McCarthy stands by Trump as former president battles Justice Dept. over Mar-a-Lago search

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is standing by former president Donald Trump as he battles the Justice Department over the court-ordered search of Mar-a-Lago for classified documents.

“Joe Biden and a politicized Department of Justice launched a raid on the home of his top political rival, Donald Trump. That is an assault on democracy,” McCarthy said Thursday in a prebuttal to Biden’s speech.

While other top congressional Republicans, most notably those in the Senate, have remained silent about the latest developments in the criminal investigation of Trump, McCarthy clearly was standing with Trump, who has lashed out against the FBI.

In a court filing Tuesday, prosecutors alleged that Trump and his advisers repeatedly failed to turn over highly classified government documents, leading to the FBI search that found more than 100 additional classified items.

10. In general, Senators are smarter than Congresspeople

Even the so-called stupid ones like Cruz and Hawley. Their shtick is an act to appeal to the rubes, (look at their academic credentials to see their accomplishments. These guys aren't stupid they just play it on TV).

Senate candidates have to appeal to voters across their state unlike Congresspeople who often run in gerrymandered districts. This was point McConnell made the other day when he was talking about the quality of some Senate candidates like, Walker and Oz.

Senate Republicans are more disciplined than their Congressional counterparts.

To be clear, all of these Republicans are dangerous to our democracy and they should be voted out of office. I simply think that McConnell is a more effective and intelligent leader than McCarthy.

McCarthy is in way over his head and he's not a very smart man. He's in trouble and he's scared. Hilariously, he thinks standing by Trump will protect him. Little does he realize that to Trump, McCarthy is just another pawn to shield Trump who will be discarded when it will help protect Trump.
