Blue states have always led on immigration, contrary to what Desantis thinks

Of top 10 states with most immigrants as of 2022 (defined as # of people not born in US), seven are blue states. Further, Massachusetts and Texas have the same percentage of population as living immigrants, while California, New York and New Jersey beat Florida in percentage of immigrants. Desantis’ ignorance is only exceeded by his arrogance.

1. This. NYC and Los Angeles have the largest numbers for metro areas,

amusing because DeSantis specifically suggested CA and NY hypocritically were somehow avoiding immigrants.

The U.S. as a whole, after clamping down on the numbers allowed to remain over the past decade and more, now has big labor shortages, particularly in services, that can't be filled domestically. And it's going to get worse.

Making people who had other visions of their futures desperate enough to shuck seafood in processing plants and bathe elders in nursing homes seems to be the answer they've come up with, while they wait for the white birth rate to rise, of course, and this/another pandemic to relieve society of another 3/4M people drawing Social Security.
