I know there are several who argued and argued that point.
Many of them still INSIST that TFG is also going down.
I'm not holding my breath.

I don't think Greenberg is the problem. He apparently coughed up a trove of damning information against Gaetz.

IMHO TFG did go down this week. He lost his business for 5 years, maybe forever, in New York, at least. I doubt any bank will have him, though. He's been turned over to the SDNY and the IRS for criminal charges. He faces other criminal charges from Georgia and the federal government. And plenty more troubles. His only fans are Qanon crazies. He hasn't gone to prison yet, but that threat is real.
OTOH, many who claimed Garland would do nothing have posted they were wrong.
On edit: I didn't know prosecutors had recommended Gaetz not be charged when I wrote this post. It does appear he got away with his crimes. They must not have had sufficient evidence to win.

(32,093 posts)So he is not facing charges anywhere. The lawsuit in NY won't be heard or resolved for years. And no one knows what that resolution will be.

(46,083 posts)No, he hasnt been charged with anything yet.

(65,227 posts)It's also a bit lazy to be a naysayer. Back in the 70s, people said what you're saying about Nixon.
Ignominious resignation is hardly skating away.

Just get me to the conclusion of the movie, where the bad guys get away without consequences, because that's the way our "justice" system works in America, for those who are above the law.

I lose more and more faith in this country, not that I have much left at this point, with the realization that there are NO CONSEQUENCES for these criminals so obviously Above The Law.
I just need to fully accept the reality, because I'm confident that TFG is going to get away with everything too.

(547 posts)I was always skeptical because if prosecutors had the evidence his sorry ass would have been in jail long ago.....and his ultra right leaning bible thumping district would STILL have voted him into office.

(3,368 posts)I pretty much place the guess that TFG is going down in the same category that he'll skate away; a guess.
I won't hold a correct or incorrect guess as indicative of anything or anyone other than a lucky or unlucky coin flip.

He was involved in a variety of activities so if his charges werent similar to those people suspected Gaetz would receive, then it makes sense.
It is odd to me that Gaetz is not being charged given the details of the case; but the wealthy/powerful do live by a different set of rules.
