General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsMan, I was just harassed when I was ranting about the GQP in my own home...
from my back door/window in the ground floor apartment which I have lived in for the past 34 years. I rant about the GQP just like any normal Dem does, especially these days living in southern Ca I have never felt that I should curtail my speech and opinions, especially when I am home and no one else is here.
At 8:30 a man of unknown identity was walking past my back door walking into the area where the dumpster is and yelled out, into my door and window, "Shut up you stupid bitch". Then he yelled it again 1 minute later.
This has really pissed me off. A month ago I asked the president of the HOA if I should be careful about my political opinions with 2 new owners since this area is Blue but the new owners' origins are from Red areas. I was told to live as I normally do and if GQP residents/owners don't like it then tough shit.
Should I keep my windows and doors closed when it is 8:30 PM and it's 83° outside so that I don't offend some GQP man now in the perimeter of an anti-GQP rant? How crazy are these cultists?

(7,898 posts)Buy a little American flag. A handwaver.
Every morning and evening, sing one of these whilst raising or lowering the flag from its place of honor.
1. The Star Spangled Banner
2. Here Comes Santa Claus
3. The Locomotion

he probably wanted some quiet time.

(86,915 posts)It isn't necessarily a noise issue, maybe a nosey new neighbor,

Mind his own business,
Just move along,
Stop eavesdropping,
He'll get over it.
Keep being you. If it bothers them enough, they can move.

(7,715 posts)Also, get a camera back there if you can. And put a sign up that there is a camera. The fool will shut up, and, worst case, you have documented evidence if there are further episodes.

(25,769 posts)Noise is noise.
I might be misinterpreting, but yes ... If you're annoying people out in the parking lot - chances are it's the noise, not the politics.
BigmanPigman
(51,650 posts)It was the back alley which leads to the dumpster. He heard me through my backdoor/side window which is about 6' from the path he was taking on. Unless you are within 6' of my apt back door facing the alley you would not have been able to hear me. I don't think it was a noise issue as much as a political statement.

(18,886 posts)So loudly that someone can hear what you are saying outside? Or are you just yelling at the walls?
BigmanPigman
(51,650 posts)Nothing like this has ever happened before and I have been yelling at the TV the entire time I have lived here... I live alone so it doesn't offend anyone in my household....except maybe my dog.

I think I have a different definition of normal. I have never screamed at the walls about politics. Or about anything, really.
That's not . . . healthy, IMO.
But seriously, it's not.

(15,565 posts)These idiots are just itching for us to engage with them and if you don't, he'll go home and seethe in his own juices of hatred and negativity. Hopefully it raises his blood pressure even more until he has an "episode".
I tell myself they aren't worthy of my attention and my mental health is more important to me than his opinions.
BigmanPigman
(51,650 posts)and I continued to rant for about 5 minutes after he said that, just to "show" him I won't back down. I am very stubborn, especially when I think I am within my rights.
Now I am waiting for the other shoe to drop....somewhat nervously too. What do people like this do? I don't hang out with that type.
