Times have changed. Back in the 1980s the American people were terrified of nuclear war.
Movies like the Day After and Threads scared the hell out of people. Today Russia is getting their ass kicked, Putin seems unhinged and they still have thousands of nuclear weapons.
We are probably closer to nuclear war now than we were in 1980s. The American people hardly notice.

2. Yep. Nuclear war threat, fascists taking over, climate change, assault on basic rights.
US sinking in power and status, US president who was on a crime spree and did untold damage to this country.
American people barely notice it. |

3. Doesn't help that some on the left and right...
...actually think it wouldn't be that bad. And a couple dozen million dead is acceptable. Or worse, think it can be won.
Then there are some who think those nuke's in Russia won't make it out of the silo's. Do we really want to find out? Easy to say, but we're all dead if their wrong. Of course, if it escalates to nuclear, I'm bailing and heading south. A nuclear exchange would decimate Europe and the USA both physically and economically. China, India and possibly Brazil would fill the void. And those left alive will wonder why didn't cooler heads prevail. |
