Russian Booby Trap Installed in Ukrainian Beehive Was Defused By BeesLast edited Mon Oct 17, 2022, 10:07 AM - Edit history (1)
Bee News
Thomas Hochwarter October 17, 2022 A Ukrainian beekeeper was saved by his bees after they defused grenades that had been left in his hives by withdrawing Russian troops. The explosive devices had, according to images obtained by Bee News, been hidden in the hive at an apiary in a forest in the Bucha region northeast of Kyiv by Russian troops who fled when Ukrainian forces regained ground. But the booby trap failed to explode when the beekeeper checked the hives because the bees had covered their pins with honey and propolis. Russian Armed Forces were accused of abusing and killing more than 400 Ukrainian civilians during the occupation of Buch where the hives were located in March. 2. I might have some sympathy for the conscripted Russian soldiers, but in general,
I am feeling toward them as my father/uncles did toward the NAZIS-- no mercy (beyond Geneva conventions). And as for American RWers (and the proclaimed (supposed) far-left Dems like Glenn Greenwald, Jill Stein, and NOW, official non-Dem, Tulsi Gabbard, I don't know how my contempt could rise further.

6. Absolutely
Booby trapping a beehive serves no purpose other than to kill or maim a civilian long after you have retreated from the area. This is not a tactical or strategic action intended to accomplish a military objective. It is the sick and depraved behavior of a psychopath.

11. The Russian Army is trained in brutality. Rape and torture are standard practices.
I have nothing but disgust with them but also now for a citizenry that tolerates such behavior and such deranged leadership. If Russians want to be part of a global community, they need to stop behaving with ill intent toward everyone.

15. 👍 Well stated. However....
Russians are sailing to South Korea to avoid being drafted to Ukraine — most are refused entry
“It is likely that Korea is becoming an intermediate stopover as more people attempt to escape Russia," lawmaker An Ho-young said. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/russia-ukraine-war-conscription-putin-reservists-boats-south-korea-rcna52040 Many Russians disagree with Putin, apparently and many young men are now in hiding in Russia, according to the reporting on MSNBC. |

30. I have never heard or read about Greenwald...
claiming to be a Democrat. I HAVE heard him claim to be an Independent. Who knows what his actual party registration/affiliation is?
And Jill Stein has been a Green for a LONG time, also someone who doesn't claim to be a Democrat. I'm not sure why anyone is trying to lump these losers in with us. Manchin and Sinema are bad enough. We don't need any "extra" shit-heels on our side... ![]() |

31. They formed a FAR LEFT faction that still aligned with DEMS during the primaries.
Tulsi Gabbard RAN as a Democrat for President--as did Nina Turner (for Congress) and others like her. Not sure why you would think they would not be discussed. Were they EVER Dems? Well, I'm not picking on Bernie Sanders, but he technically wasn't either.

33. You are talking about Far Leftists and picking and choosing who are actually Democrats...
That is a pretty damned fluid definition given even Sanders is periodically a Dem when seeking the Presidency or while caucusing in the Senate as an Indie. Many years ago, Greenwald self-identified as a Dem. I'd never want to claim him or most of the rest of them. Most certainly not Nina Turner, who, I can assure you will again try to run as a "Dem" (of convenience). And Tulsi Gabbard is a cultist, not a Dem, but she sure as hell DID run as one and her opportunism might well have her claiming membership sometime in the future--when the Tucker Carlsons of the world give her the boot.

12. I just read this article in The Guardian. At least Democrats are raising concerns about Saudi
Arabia’s decision to side with Russia in their illegal war against UKraine.
“A senior Democratic lawmaker has raised alarms about the possibility that sensitive US defense technology could be shared with Russia by Saudi Arabia in the wake of the kingdom’s recent decision to side with Moscow over the interests of the US. Richard Blumenthal, a member of the Senate armed services committee who has proposed a one-year freeze on weapons sales to Saudi following Opec+’s decision to cut oil production, said he would “dig deeper into the risk” in discussions with the Pentagon. “I want some reassurances that they are on top of it and if there are risks, I want to determine what can be done to mitigate those risks immediately,” Blumenthal said in an interview with the Guardian. The comments show the depth of the rift that has emerged between the Saudi monarchy and Democrats in Washington, who have reacted with fury against a recent decision by the Opec oil cartel to begin cutting oil production next month by 2m barrels a day.” https://www.theguardian.com/global/2022/oct/17/senator-raises-alarm-saudis-could-share-us-defence-technology-with-russia |

14. We know very little about bees, really, in spite of having been partners for millennia.
They may well be "compound" organisms, with each bee representing a cell, limb, organ, whatever, in a whole, and the collective intelligence of that whole much more advanced than we can currently measure.
For the most part, they mind their own business, and look after partners who look after them. It's not a bad model. thoughtfully, Bright |
