We don't get to see a lot of political ads here in upstate NY. I was wondering if they are showing a lot of political ads about ROE and J6 in contested state elections.

(3,557 posts)Nothing like that here. All I see are ads by JD Vance talking about taxing Tim Ryan, his love affair with Nancy Pelosi, and the dreaded liberal agenda
However, the only ads Im exposed to are the few that you might see while watching a YouTube video. I dont watch cable television or consume any other media that is littered with commercials. (Netflix doesnt have commercials)
As far as I can tell democrat messaging is non existent.

(6,490 posts)if you're seeing any Nan Whaley ads up there? There really aren't many here, but I've been chocking that up to her being from here and the campaign wanting to spend in the state where she's less known.
We're getting hammered by the Vance and Weasel Dewine ads here as well.

(3,557 posts)Again, all I see are the occasional ad you might see while watching a YouTube video so Im not really exposing myself to all that much advertising.

(53 posts)You haven't seen the ad with Tim Ryan throwing football at TVs?

(3,557 posts)But I already know who Im voting for so I tune them out the second I hear the names Tim Ryan or JD Vance.
FWIW, I actually live in Perrysburg. I live in the vicinity of the old part of town, between the boundary streets. Its a fantastic little community.

(3,860 posts)The Dems not doing a good job in iowa.
They are letting milker-meeks claim to be a helper when she voted against everything. Milker-meeks was the winner of the don't count the last 30ish mail in votes case and won by fewer than ten votes last time.
No ads...miller meeks voted against women reproductive health. She voted against $35;insulin. She voted against Medicare negotiating lower drug prices. If she doesn't understand these issues as a doctor,...then we need someone who understands what we here in Iowa need.
The only good ads against grassley basically say "I voted for grassley many times, but now I won't because he has forgotten about Iowa and only votes for big corporations." That might resonate, but they need to run ads on abortion, Medicare, social security, and gay marriage. Gay marriage alone might swing the Miller -meeks seat back to dems as the Iowa city-cedar rapids has a very large LGBTQ+ community that has a lot of support from allies.
In general, very underwhelmed by the ads by our side in iowa.

(6,833 posts)None that I recall are about J6.
We have no race for a U.S. Senate seat this year. Some U,S, House races are agonizingly close.
Our Democratic Governor Walz is likely to win re-election. The two houses of the state legislature are presently divided, with the DFL having a slim majority in one and the GOP having a slim majority in the other.

(17,304 posts)Shapiro campaign is hammering Mastriano on his anti-abortion stance. Fetterman has also run ads highlighting Oz' anti-abortion stance. DCCC has recently stepped in with ads tying Schaffer who's running against DeLuzio in PA-17 to Mastriano.
McConnell's PAC spending 60M on ads throwing everything they have against Fetterman. No one helping Mastriano or even willing to be part of the few ads his campaign has run. All the R attack ads are the cookie cutter kind designed to make voters afraid. The same one are running in every state with just the candidates name changed.
Can't say what's airing in eastern PA.

Fetterman wants to legalize all drugs
Fetterman arrested a black person for no reason
Oz kills dogs
The good one - a woman taking about how she had an abortion because the fetus would die and her life was in danger, and how Oz and Mastriano would end all abortions even to save the womans life. Powerful.
NO ads supporting Mastriano.

(40,313 posts)Scare tactics, criticizing or fearing the opponent, saying the opponent is too extreme for Pennsylvania, but never mentioning who's sponsoring the ad. Unfortunately it seems some of the Dems are doing it too.
In the last 20 years or so, the vast majority of "effective" advertising (according to the experts) have been negative ads that tout fear and abhorrence (for lack of a better word.) The experts seem to believe that negative ads work, so that's all they know how to do now. I've disliked this trend for so long, and it effectively turns me off to political advertising of all kinds.
I feel that I'm better off not seeing any political advertising, because I already now that I'm voting straight-D anyway.

(68,987 posts)Cherie Beasley has a good chance to win Richard Burr's Senate seat but she's getting a lot of lying attack ads against her. Where are the rebuttals from the DNC? It's the same with our congressional candidates.
We MUST have clear, simple ads tying Republican candidates to GOP failures. Instead, they're running hog wild blaming Biden and Democrats for inflation, the economy and crime. Come on, Democratic leaders! Put out some negative ads!

(68,987 posts)I'm disappointed - again - in Democratic Party messaging. Something needs to change. Our candidates are getting creamed with attack ads and we have a lot to run on this year. The GOP is vulnerable and we're not pressing our advantage. The media is against us. Let's go!

(16,385 posts)not exactly a swing state but all the Dem ads are hammering the Republicans hard on abortion. There are also ads painting the Republicans as anti-law enforcement because they didnt support the Capitol Police on Jan. 6.
