Looking to understand Eric Cantor's district.

I have looked at the district and it looks like he avoided the high population.

Is there a Democrat ready to take his seat? Seriously, he must go down.

Would appreciate all info on this matter!

Thanks,
Duane

What Democrat is running against him? And what are the odds?

My brother and I are discussing it and we need help.

Seriously, must I seek out specific groups for some advice?

Do the people from the Virginia group not see this?

I still love that one.

It's all Extraterrestrials here in GD.

First, I didn't even know there was a "Virginia" section.

Good thing I didn't have a question about North Dakota!!!

I'm just pleased that people know now that I didn't mean grainular. Then I could be accused of working in a silo...and that could be career suicide.

But yes, I must take another look at the definition of "general" because i'm getting old and it might have changed in the last three months.

I get your humor...it's good stuff.

It's Sunday night, and maybe the folks familiar with Cantor's district are - gasp! - doing something other than hanging out on DU. Your thread may sink like a stone in GD, but if you cross-post to the Virginia group, you'll increase your odds for a response.

See how that works?

I don't know what came over me and my keyboard. However, had I spelled it properly, you likely wouldn't have replied. It being Sunday and all. That day when most people are home.

Thanks anyhow,
Duane

The area is gerrymandered to basically let Western Henrico county dominate. There is a population count there not able to support a Congressional district but it fans out northwest-ward to bring in the numbers. Notice that is stays south of Charlottesville - home of UVa and a bastion of liberals ..and thought.

The people of Western Henrico aren't necessarily Republican. In fact in 2008 we flipped Henrico 53 for Bush in 2004 to 56% for Obama in 2008. When I say "we flipped it" I mean that I personally had a hand in flipping it - 400+ doors knocked on, constructed the W.Henrico office, hosted launch parties the last two weekends. What is key in Henrico is that the eastern part is black middle class (Varina) who are not in Cantor's district - Bobby Scott.

Cantor is private school and William and Mary "educated". He was a top staffer for Bliley (see banking de-regulation) who was chosen and presented as acceptable. Tobacco approved so Eric got to be a Congressman. He has not earned any of it and is twisting in the wind with the TeaBaggers.

The closer he gets to Richmond the heavier his southern accent emerges.

He is a joke and a place holder.

And he has done and said plenty to take some huge hits.

I would like to hammer him on his selling US bonds short while voting against the debt increase.

I see another Republican is running against him, but we are talking another Ron Paul.

Thank you for an honest post.

I think it'll mainly be attacking his lack of support for his constituents. Like disaster relief being a bargaining chip for cuts.
