How can the Rs get away with this?
Is there any way we can rid ourselves of this minority rule?

(1,750 posts)Media is covering it as if it is "normal reporting." That is the problem. They are just "reporting" with no analysis. I guess when we lose democracy, they will still "report." Don't they have a little more responsibility? If democracy falls, we are all screwed (although I think we already are).

(14,180 posts)Thats also whats killing democracy.
There has to be a better, nonpartisan way to redraw districts after censuses to accurately reflect population changes.
Im in an area north of Indianapolis thats been trending blue across several elections. District was redrawn to remove our Democratic state senator, and to make the congressional seat virtually untouchable. Nipping a problem in the bud.
Likewise, the congressional district for most of Indianapolis proper now extends north into a wealthier, red suburb. Makes no fucking sense, unless youre trying to dilute the urban Democratic vote.
Republicans are the problem here.

(367 posts)This is the scam we fell for in Colorado too. Those committees are just a way for Republicans to prevent us from pressing our advantage.

(19,976 posts)I've been screaming about this here (and elsewhere) since 2004.
Yet, here we are today, still. SSDD
Dems don't want to dispense with gerrymandering because it can help them, and Republicans weaponized that fact against us. Now, here we are.
