“Older than cookies” … yall elected a man who had fruit and nuts for treats

Chuck Grassley, 89, who was born before the invention of the chocolate chip cookie, will serve another six (6) years in the Senate.

Pro gun-nut amendment passed.
The only Dem in Congress is behind a MAGAT.
State Treasurer (D) of 39 years is behind a MAGAT.
State AG (D) of 40 years lost to a MAGAT who ran on 'suing Biden".
State Recorder (D) since 2018 is behind a non-conforming GOPper.
MAGAT Governor won big on a while racist, rural, evangelical, anti-city message.

This morning has been a real punch in the gut. Outside of Polk (Des Moines), Story (Ames), Johnson (Iowa City), and Linn (Cedar Rapids) counties, were just blue cities in an angry red swamp.

I'm so happy Dems did better throughout the country. Congratulations to you all.

So tired of corn in my gasoline. It makes no sense chemically, economicly, but it's a reward to red IA voters.

I don't think Grassley will serve out his term. He will, at some point, vacate the seat and let the Republican Governor appoint his successor. I understand Grassley has a son that would be interested.

Since the grandson is much worse, the best that we could hope for in Iowa is that Grassley serves out his term, and then goes for Strom Thurmond's record by running again in 2028.

There was radio and there were diesel cars. But no tv's, or phones in most homes. Most homes didn't have electricity, and were running sconces and heat with gas lines and pot-bellied stoves.

They invented the recipe during the period when she owned the Toll House Inn, in Whitman, Massachusetts. In this era, the Toll House Inn was a popular restaurant that featured home cooking. A myth holds that she accidentally developed the cookie, and that she expected the chocolate chunks would melt, making chocolate cookies. That is not the case; Wakefield stated that she deliberately invented the cookie. She said, "We had been serving a thin butterscotch nut cookie with ice cream. Everybody seemed to love it, but I was trying to give them something different. So I came up with Toll House cookie." She added chopped up bits from a Nestlé semi-sweet chocolate bar into a cookie. The original recipe in Toll House Tried and True Recipes is called "Toll House Chocolate Crunch Cookies". Wakefield gave Nestle the recipe for her cookies and was paid with a lifetime supply of chocolate from the company.
