No insult to ActBlue, the Democratic Party, or DU, but donating through the link on the forum, only half of the funding goes to the candidate, the rest to the Party. Not that I figure that the party couldn't uses it, but I thought that Brother Warnock could use every penny of it in the next few weeks...
It ain't much, but it is all I can do. At least now I can feel like I have some skin in the game.

(41,991 posts)Being a minister isnt always being evil, though I dont believe myself. Warnock seems to understand what actual love for ones neighbor is.

(6,937 posts)This Christian is well aware that many (maybe most) atheists an agnostics can spot a real Christian better than most Christians.
I sent some too - not a lot - but every penny helps. He was elected in the first place through a special election - our Georgia Democrats are very good at that - my confidence is pretty high.

(17,656 posts)I know that this is not universal and I know that there are some wonderful practicing Christians. However, It has been my observation, that many Atheists live a more "Christian" lifestyle than the Christians that I live among. I live in a rural area, and the church going Christians, that I grew up with, are hateful right-wingers. They still long for Jim Crow, they hate the Spanish speaking workers that they hire to work on the farms, and they are misogynists' pigs. These folks assume that I am one of them, so they speak freely in my presence. If they are right in their religious beliefs, they may have a surprise waiting at the Pearly Gates.
Heck, Atheists have to be better to live with themselves because we can't go down on our knees in the evening and bargain for forgiveness. We have to live with our sins and if we want to mitigate our guilt, we have to figure out how to make amends without using magical incantations...

(6,937 posts)"I like your Christ - I do not like your Christians, they are so unlike your Christ."
For that matter, Jesus himsalef apparently had no illusions about "his people":
"Not everyone who calls out to me, Lord! Lord! will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter." Matt 7:21
You can pick your translation but they are essentially the same. So we also need to make tangible, so to speak, amends too. Many don't get that.
