Small story from a deep red state:
My son moved back in several weeks ago - student debts and IT job market chaos.
We have been sharing my car.
He had my car yesterday, while I did other stuff, so it sat in a big parking lot with a lot of other cars belonging to IT temp-help, including many people who are on their way up for the first time not only in their own lives, but also in generations of their families.
I went out this morning to put some stuff in the car & to prepare for this days tasks.
I opened the trunk and noticed that something had happened to one of the two Obama/Biden stickers on my back windshheild.
One sticker said I heart Obamacare & the other sticker said Obama 2012.
The Obama 2012 sticker had been lifted around all of its edges, lifted and pulled up about 1 " all around.
I pressed all of the edges back down, thinking someone had tried to tear it off of my car, but had not succeeded in that task.
But then I got to thinking, if they had intended to just tear it, why hadn't they just torn it through, in one or more locations around the edge of the sticker.
Instead it had been carefully pulled up ALL AROUND its circumference.
Even in this FUCKING DEEP RED state there are people who love the USA enough that they'd try to lift a sticker, a sticker that they probably couldn't get otherwise, because Democrats have surrendered here and because they can't donate or volunteer or whatever, they'd try to life that sticker in order to get something to identify themselves as being one of those who wish the USA would go FORWARD and invest in the dreams of ALL Americans.
