Walmart shooter bought gun the same day as the murders. (Original Post) Cattledog Nov 2022 OP
That was my question on an earlier post. Was surprised my comment got so little support. 70sEraVet Nov 2022 #1

he got it at walmart? I guess not.

Yes I think a waiting period would make a Difference in some cases.

Typically done on the store's computer or iPad.

10 minutes to fill out, hit Submit, and the ATF server gives a result back in a few minutes.

at my local hospital I had to pass a federal background check that cost the hospital $1,400.

It took weeks. Just to give a little perspective.

If it was a heat of the moment type thing, then maybe. He could have had time to cool off and reconsider. But if this was something that he was planning on doing, then 1 week or 1 month wouldn't have changed anything other then maybe who got shot.

it would have changed anything. This was obviously planned.
I suppose it could realistically go either way. 5 days to cool off a little, or 5 more days to fret and let even more anger build up.
Who knows, every case is probably different. People who do these things are already nuts anyway

Take your break, buy a gun and ammo, then finish your to-do list.

Ain't capitalism grand?
