In May 2018, after the LA Times reporting on Dr. George Tyndall, Provost Michael Quick would be getting a new boss, and his name, the newly elected Chairman of the USC Board of Trustees, a true bull in a hen house, was one Rick J. Caruso. Needless to say, Rick was not happy with the state of affairs at USC at that time, or with Michael Quick and this is recorded in the deposition leaked to Knock LA and posted publicly by journalist Jonny Peltz on October 27, 2022. The following passage is significant to this story ranging from page 278 to page 280 of the Veritex transcription. Here Chairman Caruso is questioned by attorney John Carpenter about an email in which Michael Quick describes an incident on June 9, 2018, with Carpenter reading the email to him: “Now let me take a detour for a moment and mention that I pretty much felt that the deans assassinated me in front of Rick Caruso yesterday.” Caruso denies knowing anything about this despite repeated questioning from Carpenter about it: he repeats questioning directly why Quick is “saying that…he was assassinated in front of you, you don’t know what he’s talking about?” Caruso’s attorney, Catherine A. Conway, a partner at the firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher objects again with legal firmness.

Notice I'm not hiding any evidence, but LA folks have you read anything reported about USC officials talking with Kevin De Leon or Nury Martinez? Are you surprised that billionaire owned LA-Times, that's Patrick Soon-Shiong, would suppress this information?

I reside in Northern California, haven't followed LA City politics, but because I have a friend who lwas born. raised, ives, and is a close observer into L.A. politics,

I'd send this to him. but seriously is there a transcription of these recordings for my benefit to help sort out who is who in this private conversation. Also, the crosa talk with the woman etc is making it even harder.

Yes, we are on day 50 since this has happened. It's literally rendering City Hall almost inoperable due to the warranted outrage but is a classic example of misinformation. Here's the LA Times transcription which you should be able to access for free:

You'll note they didn't break out the section from roughly minutes 8 to 15 that focus on USC at all. It's the most significant and USC is one of the most powerful institutions in LA if not all of California.

UC is on strike. These are extremely weird and interesting times!
