as have the other two (one of whom, Pete Aguilar was on the Jan6 Committee)

And he doesn't (and they don't) have to pass the entire House, as the Speaker does - just our party. I''m confident.

...this is a Jedi-like relinquishing of power to a younger generation, and its a beautiful thing to behold.

to see them stepping back. My instinct would have me pleading with them to stay.

But they have shown a deeper wisdom. Acting selflessly to give new leaders their place in the sun, while remaining in place to give the new team their full support and good council.

Makes me respect Pelosi, Hoyer, and Clyburn all the more.

They are truly wise.

I don't mean to quibble, but I don't see how that would work. Are the Republicans really fragmented enough that the Dems could out vote them and elect one of our own? (I honestly have no idea.)

Later on, when Dems are in control again, it will be a completely different story, of course. 😁

Just that Kremlin Kevin may end up with fewer R votes than there are Dems in the House. He can't appease all the crazies and the "normal" Rs.

But a valid point. He will get 100 percent of the Democratic votes, McCarthy may not make it as Speaker and it may be another Republican as republicans continue to say they will not vote for him. There will be a point they the republicans will pull the plug on him as they did when they drafter Paul Ryan.

He is an extremely effective speaker. I am always struck, when he's interviewed, -which isn't often enough -at his incisive way of getting to the point and his refusal to be derailed by whataboutism and gotcha questions. Now he'll have a larger platform, well-deserved.
