Why in hell is the media still making excuses for Trump? Why do so many give him
"the benefit of the doubt" when he so obviously does not deserve it?
Why did Pence's characterization of Trump's "Big Lie" and his instigation of J6 as simply listening to inept attorneys not IMMEDIATELY result in his being dragged by everyone with a microphone? Why do the cable personalities repeatedly give air time to Trump's ridiculous insistence that he "did not know" who Mr. Fuentes was? Is that not ANOTHER transparent lie? Why is the "Fuentes was Kanye's guest; not mine!" excuse not being openly and repeatedly being ridiculed? Yes, I know---SOME journalists are trying to be accurate and responsible, but far too many still feel compelled to be "fair and balanced" and "tell both sides" when one of those sides is transparent mendacity.

1. Because he makes them money. And, because he has not been indicted for anything despite
the numerous investigations, they can say that is evidence he has done nothing wrong and they are just being balanced in their coverage.

3. Why do people waste time with the media if they hate it so much.?
I dare say one can be very well informed by just getting their news from DU.

6. I am selective,
I don't waste my time being aggravated by the right wing MSM.
I only watch Nicolle Wallace on TV, and listen to Zerlina Maxwell, Stephanie Miller, and Thom Hartmann. |

8. Why go to a cancer doctor if I can get all my medical advice at DU?
OP doesn’t hate the media, and I seriously doubt they hate the trained competent reporters who bust their asses fact checking and interviewing and researching.
Their quarrel is with editorial stances from the higher ups afaik. |

22. Guess the analogy went over your head.
Lots of folks on DU posting wild ‘theories’ and fact free speculation. Which is fine, because it is a discussion site, not a news organization.
It is not a not a vetted news source. If you choose to get your ‘news’ from DU or Facebook or TikTok, that’s certainly your choice. Just like you can choose to go to a quack doctor or a unqualified blogger when you get sick. |

23. LBN has strict standards about what can be posted
You might benefit from reading the LBN SOP. When I was talking about getting my news from DU, I meant LBN and not GD, the Lounge, Weird News or Pets.
GD is general discussion about the news and other things. |

27. Sorry. I just assumed people knew that DU has LBN for news
GD is for general discussion of the news and many other subjects, Weird News covers the exploits of Florida Man and Creative Speculation is for discussion of the Kennedy assassination, aliens, and conspiracy theories .

One is not sitting watching talking heads babbling about stuff in a way that pisses the viewer off. Here, one can go right to what's important.

28. It's still THE MEDIA which is the point
As much as you try to deflect with the BS "selective" claim, the media that you are painting with a broad brush - along with the people who use it - is where the info is coming from. You can claim "being selective" as much as you want, but you certainly aren't slective when you slur the people who create content and post it here. That 'important stuff" you go to, comes from THE MEDIA. Your constant bashing of media as some kind of monolith here without any supportive evidence has zero credibility.
If you would learn about the history of this country, the media was considered an important part of our democracy by the Founding Fathers. That now includes bradcast media, some of which is awful, but a lot of which has been essential in combatting the fascists who are trying to overturn democracy. I could post many, many examples but you would ignore them as much as you ignore the good work being done by many in the media with your blanket attacks and unsupported claims. |

9. More of traitor on the news than before
If any of the segments I listen to start airing clips of traitor, or his past or current henchmen, I turn it off.
I want to see news that indicates what elected Dems in Congress are planning, or how the states with seditious officials trying to overthrow their elections are going to deal with the rebels. I'll watch long lines of people in Georgia waiting to vote. Or Mauna Loa erupt, although I'm wondering if someone tossed a few r's in and stirred it up. The only clips I want to see of traitor or his gang are when they get handed into the back seat of a cop car. |

30. Fox would still exist, with or without an FCC
The Fairness Doctrine only applied to regular broadcast stations--the stations that you can pick up with a simple antenna.
Fox is cable. It can spew lies and hate all day, and little can stop them from doing it. Save for cutting cable. That's the only way you can hurt them. That both kills their advertisers' access to your eyeballs, and their cut of your cable bill. Every time you pay for cable, you pay for Fox to be on the air. |

32. Money
Trump is a ratings machine. With privatized media, ratings and money are more important than truth and democracy. It’s their raison d’etre.
