You become their prisoners. The Republicans now have to satisfy the voters they radicalized or they will turn on them. They are trapped, imprisoned by their own voters who they turned into extremists. They made their bed and they have to sleep in it.
Many Republicans know they have to moderate in order to do better in elections and they also know if they do their voters will turn on them. They will lose their jobs. That is what we are witnessing. Look at McCarthy.

Their propaganda (Fox) took over in the W years.
Trump took advantage of their propaganda.
Now they have lots of media outlets to keep the fire going.
