Media's getting played by Trump again

Like in 2016 and 2020 the cable news networks are falling for Trump's online trolling yet again.

For 7 years they've been Trump's stenographers. He'll do or tweet something horrific, the media will repeat it verbatim, ask the Republicans to condemn him (LOL) and the scandal will be quickly forgotten.
And when it does die down Trump will immediately say or do something even more obnoxious and the pattern repeats.

Meanwhile Trump keeps his name in the headlines, dominates the news cycle and his control over the Republican party only gets stronger.

That's because the media hasn't figured out its the Republican VOTERS who won't abandon Trump. They keep nominating him to be their President no matter how racist, misogynistic and authoritarian he becomes.

I think they should stop taking the bait. Trump shouldn't be able to tweet (or truth) something while he's on the toilet and that suddenly become the most important story of the day.

Do better media.

Stop reporting on the idiot. Don't use the names "Trump" or "Elon Musk" or "Kanye West" or "Eric Fuentes" for a while. No talk about what's going on with twitter and no repetition of its themes or bans.

Let's start talking about President Joe Biden and the economy not slipping into recession, producing jobs and averting a rail strike and how much support we are giving Ukraine and get on that train for a while.

Trump is never going to be elected to anything again, there's a huge hole in his boat and its sinking fast. With some reality checking in, he's hopefully headed for prison, he's already showing signs of dementia and he's almost eighty and won't be around for much longer anyway. Let his fat ass go.

11. They may have to start ignoring Twitter

The days of covering tweets as actual news should come to an end. Especially with Elon Musk turning it into an unsafe right wing propaganda platform.

Plus it's lazy journalism to just repeat politicians tweets verbatim without at least fact checking them.

The fact he has to go lower and lower to attract attention shrinks the number of people who will vote for him each time he does it.

I mean it is good for Trump as far as controlling the Republican party but terrible for the Republican party for winning elections. I hope he continues it until he is 100.

The MSM is doing exactly what its right wing fascist domestic oligarch owners tell it to do.

His madness is good for ratings.

I think that's why they spent the 2 years after he left office begging him to run again. Now they got what they wanted and are hoping Republicans will turn on him. As if.

They now claim they have to cover his deranged tweets and white supremacist dinners because he's the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican Presidential nomination.

After 7 years they might want to figure out a different strategy.

...despite the infamous Moonves statement, news programs did not actually see sustained ratings boosts. They were short lived (mid 2016 to early 2017), then flattered, dipped, and then came back to equilibrium.
Even Faux saw a flattening, as did other cable news until Covid lockdowns and pandemic news caused an uptick across the board.
Here in Chicago, Pritzker's daily COVID briefings drew a higher share than did TFG's on cable news.
The data is pretty clear, it's their data, and if they still think TFG is still ratings gold they're either lying or very stupid.

the media is not covering Trump like they did when he was in the Oval Office...his stolen election schtick is stale, his anointed mini-me candidates were so vile Republicans crossed over and voted for Democrats ..the courts have turned against him, his dinner with Nazis and his posts portraying himself as an innocent victim bordered on the ridiculous...and now his outrageous "terminating the Constitution" has pretty much solidified him as a deranged fire breathing buffoon...for years the MSM coddled him, laughed with him, now they're laughing at him..about damn time...

How are they making money off of Chump? I think they're going broke and laying people off. Advertisers are leaving them. People turn off their TV sets, or they watch Netflix instead.

The media is in cahoots and they induce a Pavlovian response from us every time a tweet is deflatulated from that imp.

We breathe life into his most inane utterance and they derive great joy watching our resultant conniptions.

We know who he is and we know who they are. We make no progress by continuing to highlight the gore and distinguish ourselves from them. They make no concessions and we are emotionally distressed by the inhumanity.

We could ignore Trump. He is, after all, the target of a zillion investigations, we need not babysit him at this point, he's under watchful eyes.

We could avoid the media sources that hang on his every word.

But, part of me actually loves hating Trump. It's like checking the oil. I know I'm still sane and ethical if what Trump writes or says pisses me off.
