He knows there’s no reason to panic. This is following the extract pattern of November. Remember when everyone thought Walker won here in November?

Are you always this nervous?
comparing numbers from November 6th election,
Walker is overperforming in Red county by a little and usually first to be county since they are small. In contested counties, Warnock looks slight ahead. In blue counties, it is undetermined, however, Warnock seem to be running ahead there.

I'm not worried yet.

I get the panic though. I’m in a blue state and the early returns are always painful because they come from small rural counties.

Once the huge urban area report (usualky overnight) then all is well with the world.

DU has no business running multiple "the sky is falling" threads the second Walker pulls ahead briefly, especially when massive Democratic strongholds have yet to report.

Consider Catherine Cortez Masto and her race in Nevada in November. Now THAT was a nail-biter. This one should not be a nail-biter without a LOT of cheating by the Georgia state government. After the shenanigans of November 2020, I think that the Georgia state Government, in Republican hands though it may be, knows the intense scrutiny the Justice Department will be turning on them, and I'm sure they would prefer to let Trump and his insurrectionists bear the indictments, and not them. Kemp won re-election legitimately, why should he risk an indictment for electoral fraud at this stage of the game?

This particular OP has a habit of poking fun at people who have a different life experience and that is frustrating. He also posted last week that he couldn’t imagine why people waited in line at the airport when they could pay to get through more quickly via Pre-check etc. I don’t doubt that Rev Warnock will finally win…but folks are nervous and they have a right to be. Empathy is important. I always appreciate your point of view.

I've survived it so far, anyhow.

There can't be many here who have a more different life experience than I have, and I'm sensitive to that. I have two siblings back in the States whose daily lives couldn't be more different from mine (or each other's), plus two daughters and two nephews who chose completely varying paths all on their own. Not everyone gets that pounded in their faces every day, so I tend to take it for granted that other people's realities will vary widely.

By the way, I did get TSA Pre-check when I was in the States a few years ago, and at some airports, so many passengers have it that the wait time seems to be just as long for those who have it as for people that don't. I remember the scene from the movie "Bruce Almighty" when Bruce, temporarily holding down the position of God, grants the wishes of everybody that sends him one. It created more chaos than existed before, and God comes back to remind Bruce that if he makes everyone special, then no one is any more special than they were before.

Election results are reported in a way to create a horse race that may or may not be accurate and that makes folks uneasy. It might even make people “panic”. Get it? You should.

No, they're not.

Unless you're arguing that the County election officials are involved in ginning up excitement, the Counties report their votes when the votes are ready to report, and the networks report the results. The up and down bounce was fully expected.

Election results are reported in a way to keep people watching cable networks. If that weren’t the case then all the networks would be reporting the same information the way…which they absolutely do not. This isn’t about county election officials at all, this is about how the media chooses to present facts. They’ll exaggerate the “up and down” however keeps eyeballs on the screen.

The only variant is how long it takes for each media outlet to collect data from the Counties and enter it into their computer systems. The results never varied in percentage reported by more that 2-3 points. Name a point in which the network were reporting radically different numbers with the same percentages.

The news reports on results as they come in, and it just so happens tht smaller reporting precincts/counties get reported first. Because--hello!--they're small.

It's called keeping people informed. Our worthless media doesn't do it often, but with this they have no choice but to work with what they're given.

That's why panicking when it's not called for isn't about life experience. It's about not accepting reality.
