So why didn't Republicans run an old white guy instead of Walker?

Seriously, was there no one on the Republican bench to run against Warnock? I am just surprised that they'd run a such a pitiful candidate for the US Senate, I assume there were no intelligent blacks that would run as a Republican, but where were the old white guys to run against Warnock>

There were no white old Republican candidates to run? Maybe Republicans realize that Georgia is turning blue, so Hershel was their best, last chance.

and Walker won by a very slight margin and TFG praised himself for getting him across the finish line.

This is why I don't buy the TFG is done talk. His cultist base is enough to win him the primary just like the many disastrous TFG picks for this midterm.

They thought:

blacks would vote for him

football fans would vote for him (football and UGA huge number of fans)

Trump fans would vote for him

he would vote the way they told him to

The whole thing was very scary when you know you live among people who were okay with this plan.

In the end, I believe this election came down to GOTV and Dems showing up.

Walker was every stereotype Black men have been fighting against for decades. Black people weren’t and didn’t support that.

When has the GOP pushed back on Trump?

Considering how close it was, if they had run a better candidate they would have won. But can’t say no to Donnie Orange King.

they aren't really racist. But they couldn't find a competent Black candidate because those are all Democrats, and anyhow, Walker embodies what the GOP thinks Black men are really like: not very bright, irresponsible fathers, inclined toward violence, only good at sports. And TFG wanted him, probably for the same reasons. They probably also thought he'd take enough of the Black vote away from Warnock to beat him, but Black people found Walker's candidacy insulting and reacted accordingly.

A. Because first of all they love to use any black person who will let them to try and look like a big tent inclusive party. They aren't of course nor do they want to be. In fact, they are even worse in that regard than they were 20 years ago. They just want to create the illusion.

B. They think black people are so stupid that they will vote for someone just because of the color of their skin. Even when that person's political views run counter to everything, they believe in. This is a racial stereotype they have always held.

C. They felt like once in office Walker would have been totally theirs to just order about.
