Warnock's win in Georgia gives Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema far less power over Biden's agenda

.

While a 50-50 landscape gave every senator sway, the most frequent, publicly vocal defectors have been Manchin and Sinema, who refused to gut the 60-vote filibuster required to pass most major legislation. Their refusal doomed President Joe Biden's push to enact sweeping voting-rights legislation and to codify Roe v. Wade and other abortion rights into law, among other things.

In a 51-seat world, Schumer shouldn't have to stress as much about what Sinema or Manchin want "in return for trying to pass the Democratic agenda," said former Senate Democratic leadership aide Jim Manley.

"Hopefully, the Democratic leadership doesn't have to spend all their time worrying about what Sen. Manchin is going to do to try and screw things up," Manley said.

I guess both have to vote together to derail things.

with the loss of the House, there will be little or nothing coming over from the House related to the Biden agenda and should a bill originate in the Senate, there will need to be some arm-twisting of the handful of GOP moderates in suburban purple swing districts in the House (need to find at least 5 or more), to get House passage.

At this point, packing the courts (and getting appointee vacancies filled - e.g., there are 2, 45-appointed Postal Board of Governors - 1 " (D) " (in quotes) and 1 (R) whose terms expire tomorrow) will need to be priority #1, as this type of work will be most do-able by the Senate.

It will take some sort of change-of-life miracle for ANYTHING of any substance to come out of the WACKO-Majority House. The only good thing to come out of that will be the in-fighting and back-stabbing being done by the looniest of the loons and watching Monkey McCarthy deal with all of it.
Get what we can from the Senate - better, more-fair courts, and PLEASE do something about the Postal Board!

(I thought that I was one of 2 Democrats in Butler County!) and ended up with his team using a picture of John and me in one of their campaign postings!
Proudly sent THAT picture around!

but I didn't get chance to go. I was just glad he was firing up the crowds here, despite his love of Sheetz (that I had never heard of until he started running for Senate ). The closest one is like 40 - 50 miles from here.

We all go to that Wawa jawn!!!

So the judicial committee can push through nominees a little quicker. I think it will be easier for committees to hold investigations or hearings as well.

Who knows what will happen in the House. With such a razor thin majority, there may be some room to get some bipartisan efforts through.

the ultimate blockage to the Biden agenda is now the House.

Biden will be able to get the Reps to play ball on a big immigration deal that Sinema and Manchin won’t have as much power to derail.

Do not underestimate Joe Biden here, he’s going to get some big things done the next 2 years.

which is where Manchin and Sinema could hold us hostage. The new threshold is the 60 of the fillibuster which the repubs can use to stop anything that could come from the house under a compromise.
