and I am not a military expert so they're born in ignorance.

Having said that my PRIMARY thought is that Ukraine has been attacked and attacked and attacked and this headline makes them out to be the problem.

My Secondary thought is that they're taking out the instruments of war that are hitting them in their country without engaging troops, which seems almost a more humane way to tackle this.

My final thought is.... RUSSIA deserves it.

I'm sure there are a ton of problems with my thinking here. Escalation is a problem that we may want to avoid. But Ukraine has been attacked relentlessly this whole time and I can hardly blame them for wanting to prevent further attacks.

which is why my first point pointed out that despite Ukraine being attacked over and over again, this headline made Ukraine out to be a problem. I may not have been clear in that I think that headline was bad.

My last point in that avoiding escalation is important... I also agree that Russia has done all of the attacking and escalating, and they're not beyond using an encroachment on their territory to escalate bombings even more. I fear that bc I live in this world. It doesn't mean I don't think Ukraine's actions are justified. I do. (Which was my intention in the whole post above.)

for no logical reason but to claim Ukraine belongs to Russia. Russia has and continue to kill Ukrainian citizens, abduct them, and rape them. Russia is bombing Ukrainian's civilian housing, the counties infrastructure, while destroying and looting everything Ukrainian and NYT's obviously has ignored those facts.

Shame on the NYTs.

They are just supposed to continue to put up with Putin’s nonsense. I hope they keep it up.

I hope the drones they “found” continue to be used.

5. Implicit Russia propaganda inside headline: Only Russia can attack across border

Ukraine can only defend inside its borders, is the implicit line.

In reality, Ukraine has been extraordinarily disciplined in mounting only a few pinpoint attacks over the border.

In my view, that has the purpose of weakening Putin's support in Russia by taking away from him the internal propaganda weapon of "The Motherland is being attacked! Sacrifices will be made!".

I think the restraint has been effective by limiting his hand, for example, not calling for a full mobilization. Meantime, Ukraine, as the defender, has a full mobilization.

7. There is a base deep in Russia

I can't remember the city, sorry, where Russia is supposed to be developing a hypersonic missile that will threaten the entire world. A second base is associated with that development.

If Ukraine erased that base, then they would be doing the entire world a favor. There is a reason that the news is going back and forth on whether Ukraine has now started to bomb inside Russia. WE don't want to be associated with that, so neither do we want to be telling Ukraine not to do it. It is absurd to say that Ukraine has "escalated" a war it did not start. Take note, they bombed military targets. They could have bombed the Duma, because apparently Russia did not dream that they would have to defend from aerial bombing by Ukraine.

Please finish the bridge off, Ukraine. It is my pet peeve...
