complain
1: to express grief, pain, or discontent
2: to make a formal accusation or charge

(344 posts)And do you disagree with the Meriam Webster dictionary definition?
Maybe youre just hearing what you want to hear, which is so often the case when people accuse journalists of bias, unfairness, etc.
But anyway, why not share the quote?

(344 posts)It appears that youre reading something into it when theres no basis to do so.
The word complain isnt negative. Its not a bad thing when a complainant issues a complaint. The word is very clearly defined and commonly used like this, in all of its forms.

(101,321 posts)unless there's a particular context from the surrounding words (see: Merriam-Webster definition, provided for you). Now, perhaps it was said in a particular way, or with other words to modify it; but if you're not going to look for the video, why should anyone else bother, to try and rescue your idiosyncratic interpretation?
LakeArenal
(28,820 posts)I read the definitions you post.
Maybe its was local vernacular but complaining has been tantamount to whining throughout my entire life.
Why are you bothering now, its one word in a post with few comments?
muriel_volestrangler
(101,321 posts)and you thought you were so right, you brought up that the member who had posted the definition is new here, as if that somehow puts you in the right, or means they're not allowed to argue against you.
