Ive known him since he was in law school and have had many conversations with him. I would have no problem if he had to rule on one of these cases.
I cannot discuss the method of his selection, but suffice it to say that he is a most decent, fair, thoughtful human being. Im just saying this, as a matter of experience, meaning: my own. Im not speaking for any individual or other jurist.

My liberal friend had the misfortune of having to deliver a eulogy to these creeps
He's told me that his brother in law was very conservative but detested Trump FWIW.

(115,776 posts)and they definitely can't be counted on to rule in his favor in his cockamamie lawsuits. He picked the judges that the Federalist Society told him to pick, and the Federalist Society's criteria are not the same as TFG's. They want judges who are conservative, tend to favor corporations and financial interests over those of the individual and are therefore less protective of individual rights; don't believe structural racism is a thing; tend libertarian where the issues involve government regulation, etc. We probably won't like many of their decisions, or at least the reasoning behind them. But TFG isn't an actual conservative; he doesn't have an ideology beyond what he thinks will benefit him. A judge he appointed is no more likely to give him a break than any other judge. He would have felt that they owed him and assumed they'd always help him, but with the bizarre exception of Aileen Cannon (and potentially Clarence Thomas), that has not been happening. Cannon was an anomaly whose dumbass special master decision was probably the result of her lack of qualifications, experience and legal knowledge combined with overweening ambition and a lack of personal ethics. Maybe she thought if she helped TFG beat the rap he'd appoint her to the Court of Appeals someday. But she's not typical; judges appointed by Agent Orange have regularly kicked his ass out of court.
