Link to tweet
These ads are a sign that Twitter is NOT attracting brands. These are gizmos. Like you'd see advertised at 3AM at a small TV station in Podunk. So - even if you see such an ad you like, don't click from Twitter. Go onto Amazon and you'll find it there. And do NOT buy a Tesla.
I use an ad-blocker so I haven't seen any of those ads, but I have read messages about the ads being for pretty tacky, low-end stuff.
There'd probably be a lot of My Pillow ads (also tacky) if Musk would just let Mike Lindell back on Twitter, but so far he hasn't.
Musk is definitely peeing all over Twitter to try to mark it as his territory in the RWNJ bargain-basement pajama-clad-troll hell he seems most comfortable with. 4chan for fake futurists.

(53,063 posts)to Twitter, in just weeks.
And it's more and more apparent that he's planning to use Twitter as a weapon to try to shape policies and politics anywhere he feels an impulse to meddle.
Even saw a tweet a while back where he referred to Twitter as an "info weapon" - and while he was claiming it had been used as one in the past, it hadn't been. It's obvious he sees it as one, though.
One he sees himself wielding while he's dressed in that idiotic Halloween costume that's still his profile pic.

(13,631 posts)That's a good observation: that while claiming Twitter has been used as an "info weapon" in the past when it hadn't, it's obvious he sees it as one now that it's under his control. This is the way of extremists and right wing nuts; think Republicans in control of the House.

(53,063 posts)they're overcompensating for. But that need to overcompensate means they'll double down on attacks on people they secretly envy.
And Musk is rich enough to have bought a social media platform for himself, and he now believes he can attack anyone with impunity and get a Twitter mob behind him.
The world's biggest schoolyard bully, with the world's biggest bullhorn.
He was at 120 million Twitter followers, the last time I checked. From what I've read, a lot of those are just bots, and a lot are also people who are NOT wanting to follow him, who've found themselves added to his list of followers against their will.
But it's still a huge audience, and he's reveling in it.

(40,902 posts)At the time he's doing that, he seems to be consistently unaware of the immense likelihood of self-humiliation. It's as if there's some real disability there. It's evident that he's actually proud of these completely inadvisable acts, without the ability to foresee the real effects of them.

(71,014 posts)...as I already told HPD, I bought a Taclight that we've seen advertised.
If you have a need for a good flashlight, get this one!!!
Very light, but solidly built. B-R-I-G-H-T as advertised. Money well spent, especially since I have a black dog.
PSA over & we return to your regularly scheduled thread.
