Talking Points Memo has more from Mark Meadowss texts.
Donald Trump Jr. texted Meadows:
Its very simple If through our lawsuits and recounts the Secretary of States on each state cannot certify that states vote the State Assemblies can step in and vote to put forward the electoral slate Republicans control Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina etc we get Trump electors There is a Safe Harbor on 8 December if for whatever reason you miss that the Electors then cannot meet in the individual state Capitols on 14 December So we either have a vote WE control and WE win OR it gets kicked to Congress 6 January 2021 the House meets to vote- by state party delegation 1 vote per state California 1 ; Montana 1 Republicans control 28 states Democrats 22 states Once again Trump wins Senate votes for VP Pence wins Summary We have multiple paths We hold them all We have operational control Total leverage Moral High Ground POTUS must start 2nd Term now Fire Wray ; Fire Faucci Make Grennel interim head of FBI Have Barr select Special Prosecutor on HardDrivefromHell Biden crime family.
Donald Trump Jr. was talking about operational control as if the will of the people is something that can be ignored and twisted to suit the needs of an incumbent president who has lost an election.
Trump Jr. is as dangerous as his father because he shares the same disregard for democracy. The Trumps dont want power so that they can govern and do things for the American people..............................

(115,753 posts)to have come up with it originally or that he was able to sit still long enough to work it out, with all that cocaine in his system, but once John Eastman sat him down and explained it to him he certainly took off with it.

(47,140 posts)What brains he does have are compromised by his constant drug abuse.
No way he came up with this plan on his own.

(7,218 posts)And by poorly written I mean there are no dates to back it up.
This plan was hatched in the late summer, before the election. John Eastman was in on it then, as was Cleta Mitchell. (Who names their daughter Cleta?)
If Junior was a messenger, OK. But the brains? Un-possible.

(94,610 posts)If the State Legislatures have the legal ability to rescind their Electoral Vote allocation (subject to State Constitutions) then advocating for it isn't a crime. If they don't have the legal ability, then advocating for it is meaningless.

(15,627 posts)Unlike Eastman/Clark/Ginnis scheme to submit slates of fraudulent electors not certified by any state official or body (technically, the ECA states the electors must be appointed by the governor, not, as Junior suggests, the state legislatures).

(94,610 posts)FWIW I've said the same thing in response to demands to prosecute members of Congress based on their votes against certifying the Electoral College certificates.

(5,352 posts)The only words that are different are not ciminal activity and the tweet ended with emojis that you didnt use. Literally everything else, including the punctuation and capitalization, is exactly the same.
Come on, man.

(94,610 posts)If you read back, you'll see I've been happy to post Tweets from others (to the annoyance of the "why do people post Tweets?" crowd). Why would I feel the need to claim credit for this one?

(5,352 posts)I dont know, why would you? Again, your post and the tweet minus a few words and two emojis ARE EXACTLY THE SAME, including capitalization, punctuation, and phrasing. You and others can take from that observation what you will.

(16,431 posts)Don Jr. wouldn't know the "moral high ground" if it walked up and punched him in the face!
The word "moral" means about as much to him as it does to his father, which is to say absolutely nothing, zero, zip, nada. The idea of him invoking it is hilarious.
