Prediction: Trump will flee the country rather than spend a day in prison...

...I've felt this ever since he started his Presidential campaign: he'd run rather than face justice. I'm sure his buddy Vladimir has a dacha all ready for him...

the idea that he did anything wrong so there’s that. My guess is Ivanka would encourage him to leave so save herself the embarrassment of his trial.

I think chances are better than not (65/35) that he will not be charged for either J6 or for stealing the classified documents. I think DoJ will either cite a lack of evidence or the inability to obtain a conviction as the reason. It's anyone's guess whether or not those are or would be true.

Rich white men of power (or perceived for that matter) rarely serve any real jail time. Probably the only exception is if they steel from other rich white men of power.

This situation should demonstrate justice in America is not blind.

Putin probably doesn't want him seeing he's a "has been". I don't see any benefit to Putin, only a burden.

If he does flee, I see him going to to a Middle East country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with the US. The problem is his private 757 jet. Unless he modified it, it doesn't have the range without stopping for refueling.

Bottom line, I don't think he'll flee. He'll appeal, appeal and appeal to run out the clock until he dies.

He's of no use to Putin now and Putin has his own serious problems. And why would TFG go anywhere that he wouldn't receive the attention that he demands? And that would only be here, the rest of the world is done with him.

I really think he’d rather go to trial, bad as it would be, than live in exile and give up the spotlight and the media fawning all over him. Attention is his oxygen.

That will cause him to wait too long...

Not that I'm predicting it will ever be too long. There's no good reason to get out on that predictive limb, based upon the DOJ's previous behavior regarding law-breaking politicians.

Aside from usual obnoxious legal delaying tactics, he can throw in claims related to having been president, yada yada yada.

Then there's the challenge of getting a unanimous jury verdict. Frankly I can't see how there isn't at least one juror who simply refuses to convict him on anything. Yeah I know voir dire is meant to weed out obviously biased jurors, but I'm betting one sneaks through.

Finally, if somehow there is a conviction and no deal for just millions of dollars, Donnie can come up with a medical excuse. See, by then he'll have some condition that makes him unable to leave home other than to play golf.

I agree he'll never go to prison, but I don't think he needs to flee the country to escape justice.

He could hole himself up in Scotland and never leave his place. They may never arrest him over there, because he would be on his property the entire time. I don't know how that would work, sure criminals are extradited, but they would still need to get an arrest warrant to go after Trump over there.

...why flee?

Even if convicted, Trump will never spend a day behind real bars.

Of course, they'll also delay the sentencing to well after any hypothetical conviction, and let Trump stay free during appeal after appeal after appeal, rather than sending him to jail while he makes his appeals, like the common folk are.

He served about one in prison and then they put him on house arrest due to Covid19 in Federal prisons. They sent him back for one week when he got caught off house arrest out eating at a restaurant. But, a judge thought it was unfair, so he got sent back to house arrest. He finished his time, and now he's a celebrity on the book circuits, and sundry shows. Not bad for a guy who ran around doing mafia style crimes for DJT.

Trump's gonna get more than house arrest. He does not have remorse, and has continuously committed even more questionable stuff. He could get a fine, but not just a fine.

I wouldn't be surprised if he ran. We could track him, but let him go. As long as he would be arrested if he ever set foot in our country again, I'm okay with that, myself. If he doesn't flee, I'd lock him up in a SuperMax. That's the only way we could control access to him without protesters running amok.

I could see him leaving on a huge yacht, and then transferring to a sub at sea. I totally see him as a coward, and he should leave the country to avoid incarceration. People do it all the time, but he would be one that we would just watch. We wouldn't need him back. Melania can stand on the dock and wave goodbye. Barron probably never sees him, anyway.
