in any way. When Grampa Simpson went all pouty cause he couldn't have his BFF Moldy Joe LIEberman (and thank the FSM that shitbag is gone for good) as his runnning mate, Bill Kristol, who had a schoolboy crush on Princess Dumbass, pimped her relentlessly to the McCain campaign. She was gonna attract all those disaffected PUMAs, dontcha know?

Grampy caved in and poor Steve Schmidt got handed that awesome pile of fail and was told to try and make a silk purse out of the moose's ear. Not even Plouffe and Ax could pull off that miracle.

And Schmidt is 100% correct about the baggers.

Maybe he will follow Smerconish in terms of continuing to repudiate the crazies in their party and fight for marginalization of the racist, sexist, and homophobic dumbasses that the rethugs have courted. And this goes for calling out their talk show hosts as well.

I can't think of anyone better from that side to do it, either. He had the balls to put up Palin, and while that didn't work out for him, you have to give him points for moxy.

As long as Rush, Beck, and their kin pollute the public airwaves, the GOP will be the party of haters and cowards.

Lugar reminds me of how Dan Quayle rode in on the hostages with a lot of the current name pukes in 1980 with St. Ronnie. The guy Potatoe beat was liberal Sen. Birch Bayh. His son Evan as a Democratic Indiana governor and later Senator, moved things ever rightward.

100% safe seat, handed over to the Democrats because the Tea Party valued conservative adherence over sanity.

I'm listening to an elderly Republican on the BBC, and he's insisting that now is the time for conservatives to hold even faster to their values.

Good luck with that, buddy!

I think Steve Schmidt did a great job on MSNBC last night.
Why make fun of him. He is right and he recognizes the fact that the republican party is doomed if they continue on this course.

Give him credit. We need people like him if we are to take more of the smart republicans that are disgusted with their horrible party.

No one forced the loons to run.

No one with any intelligence discouraged the loons from running.

No one forced the loons to vote for the loons in the primary.

Maybe, if the Republican Party wants to divest itself of lunacy, the people with some intelligence near the top need to steer the ship.

Don't get me wrong. I don't like Republicans. But since they have to be around, let's at least have the kind that are moderate and care a damn about public service. Give us (Dems) something we can work with.
