Focus on the Family is back in the football commercial game.

The staunch anti-abortion group, which aired a controversial commercial during the 2010 Super Bowl starring Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, had a TV spot during the Broncos-New England AFC semifinal game Saturday night.

While Tebow was not in the commercial, it featured a group of children reading the Bible verse John 3:16, which the quarterback cited in the Broncos’ win over Pittsburgh last week.

Tebow, who is well known for his staunch religious beliefs, received widespread criticism after he appeared in the 2010 spot. The second-year quarterback, who is the son of an evangelical preacher, discussed in that commercial how his mother was told to have an abortion when she was pregnant with him. .................(more)

3. You know, if Focus on the Family and all those types are correct, I'm

gonna have a horrible afterlife.

Because for the life of me, I can't help thinking every time I hear John 3:16 quoted, that God was/is seriously messed up. Of course some father/son conflict IS very normal; we've all seen it. But this God guy actually handed over his son to be tortured and murdered. And he nearly talked his main man Abraham into killing his son Isaac! AND there was that Job thing where he loved Job like a son, but dared the devil to do his worst with Job...

4. Tebow should feel really bad about himself...

but at least he isn't Gods favorite son or a lot worse would happen to him than losing a football game. Still he should ask himself, why his prayers are ineffective and/or why god hates him now.

As a child of a Lutheran School education and numerous times singing that hymn, that cracked me up.

"Your Favorite Hymn Sucks" -- ROFL!

Another time they had a statshot with the question "What Are Our Favorite Hymns?"

My favorite was: "Jesus Christ, Look At This Place"

I grew up in a churchy environment too -- must say I enjoy a good irreverent hymn joke as a result!
