You know what Zelenskyy did in there today? He cleaned out the stink left in that building since January 6.After Zelenskys speech, I ran into this guy with a Ukrainian flag outside the Capitol. He said: You know what @Zelenskyy did in there today? He cleaned out the stink left in that building since January 6.

(237 posts)And yet, I'm very worried about all of this from every side
I don't want the US to push policies for its own sake,
so much so that we arm Ukraine to the last man standing while
we watch that country be completely destroyed,
and yes, what if there is escalation.
what does global power mean, what does go down in reality,
the stuff nation states negotiate or fail to negotiate over
domination
pawns, the way old history books are written hold some truths...
What did the US do to stop the Russian aggression prior to the aggression
What about US China relations - going back say thirty years, patents, trade barriers
dissolved for cheap labor, corporate profits, big oil, same old - same old.
merchant armies backed with money all over Africa and the Middle East, and who knows where else.
Where do the arms come from - who sells all them arms, the tanks and planes, etc...
Big idea - drone warfare conducted from afar
all the time going down

Trump did nothing.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine didnt just happen out of nowhere.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ratcheted up tensions with the West for the better part of the last decade he annexed Crimea, meddled in US elections, poisoned an ex-spy on British soil, and more.
Nearly every step of the way, former President Donald Trump parroted Kremlin talking points, excused Russian aggression and sometimes even embraced it outright. Its easy to forget that a few years ago, Ukrainian President VolodymyrZelenesky wasnt known for his steely wartime leadership, but for getting dragged by Trump into the US political scandal that led to Trumps first impeachment.
Experts say Trumps actions weakened Ukraine, divided NATO, emboldened Putin and helped get us to where we are today. And even with Trump no longer in office, his impact lives on in the form of Putin-friendly commentary in conservative media and from some Republican lawmakers.
One of the key reasons Putin probably felt comfortable launching the invasion of Ukraine was the extent to which the West has been weakened and destabilized, and democracy undermined, and political divisions sown, in the five years since he attacked our election in 2016, said Garrett Graff, a historian and journalist with expertise in national security and Cold War issues.

(81,320 posts)Why do you even bother with clothes, Margie? All you seem to want to do is show bare skin. Even in the most inappropriate times.
Maybe she sees herself as some sort of temptress?

(186 posts)Freedom isnt free and there are people fighting and dying this very night to preserve their country and their freedom. He came to say Ukraine is brave and strong but they need our help to repel Russian aggression.
If I were young, Id join them in their fight.
Russian warship go fuck yourself! became an accepted, well known and well loved slogan in Ukraine. They proudly created a postage stamp to mark the spirit and bravery of a vastly outnumbered and outgunned Ukrainian unit on tiny Snake Island who refused to surrender to a Russian ship. An unintended and brilliant moment in history.
Zelensky and the Ukrainian people deserve our respect and support.
Slava Ukraini!
( I believe nothing can lessen the stench of January 6 in our nations capital except the successful prosecution of the orange guy and all his flying monkeys.)
