Santos did deny accusations that he misled voters about his Jewish ancestry and how his grandparents fled Europe to Brazil to escape the Nazis during World War II.

CNN previously reported that multiple genealogists and documents suggested both of Santos’ maternal grandparents were born in Brazil, and did not flee the Holocaust.

“I never claimed to be Jewish,” Santos, who spoke at the Republican Jewish Coalition annual leadership meeting in November, told The Post. “I am Catholic. Because I learned my maternal family had a Jewish background I said I was ‘Jew-ish.’”

Embellishment is when one adds details to a narrative to make it more interesting. Santos did not embellish his bio like he claimed. His bio was a complete fabrication including the part of family fleeing Holocaust.

Now that Santos has publicly confessed to being a fraud, we need to find out if he is a crook as well. His family was destitute. Santos wrote rubber checks. He was a deadbeat. He had no known source of income, certainly not enough to enter politics. Suddenly Santos is flushed with cash, $700,000 is injected into his campaign. It was not an oversight of Santos to not discuss his finances in his NY Post interview. Something is rotten here. Follow the money!

He was charged in Brazil with stealing and writing checks from one of his parent’s elderly clients, they were caretakers for elderly people and were apparently also stealing from them.

He also stole money from someone who loaned him several thousand to move in with his boyfriend and then claimed it was a gift. He was ordered to pay it back and hasn’t. I am sure there is a lot more… just read the wikipedia page. There is a long list of lies and fraudulent activities there, you have to read it… it’s incredible.

I checked the precincts against a previous election and they were red. It's Nassau Couty. Even Chuck Schumer lost Nassau County.

The sad thing is that this was likely not a district where anyone with an R would win. The question is whether people knew of the questions in his background and voted just to give Republicans the seat or if in their busy lives with the weakened local media they did not know.

It is interesting to compare this to Walker in Georgia. In Georgia, Walker's fantasies (or lies) were publicly outed as were his 4 kids by 4 moms, some of whom spoke of domestic abuse. Enough Republicans and people who lean Republican listened and voted against him.

It does appear that the Democrats DID include this in there outreach. (I wonder though if any outreach went to Republicans or even independents) I suspect that the local papers no longer have the presence they once did. (Here I am thinking of my experience in Morris County NJ - our local papers, whether the Morris County Record, or the very local Randolph Reporter had shrunk even a decade ago when we moved to VT. I did volunteer with the county dems and most times we called only registered Democrats. )

It would be great if someone did a study on where people got their election news in that district. It would be interesting to see how many people already have buyers remorse. The reason this would be more than just an interesting study is that it may outline the difficulty of actually reaching people with information.
