The damage done by Trump to the judicial branch of government will be felt for decades

I am aware there have been discussions by the Biden Administration and Democratic leaders to increase the size of SCOTUS and I am of the opinion this needs much more attention to correct the wrongs done by the previous administration. A Few simple facts make that crystal clear. Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Coney Barrett led to the overturning of Roe v Wade which I believe is the most serious to date but I fear they are far from done.

Consider these statistics from Pew Reasearch on the matter:

Trump appointed 54 federal appellate judges in four years, one short of the 55 Obama appointed in twice as much time. In the process, Trump “flipped” the balance of several appeals courts from a majority of Democratic appointees to a majority of Republican appointees.

Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett are all age 55 or younger. A Pew Research Center analysis in 2017 found that past justices who were appointed to the court when they were 55 or younger ended up serving for an average of nearly two decades.

About one-in-six of the judges appointed by Trump (16%) are Black, Hispanic, Asian or another race or ethnicity. That’s slightly below the proportion of non-White judges appointed by the last Republican president, George W. Bush (18%), and well below the share appointed by the last three Democratic presidents – Obama (36%), Clinton (25%) and Jimmy Carter (22%).

People just can’t seem to see the big picture. The Supreme Court and federal judiciary in general were everything in 2016.

But, you know, her emails. 🙄

Trump was a tool in the hands of the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Society that for decades have been working to pack the courts at the state and federal level with extremist right wing activists. We all know that Alito & Co. perjured themselves at their Senate confirmation hearings. Expand the Court!

Trump did NONE of this without the relentless work of the GOP and CONservative movement over MANY decades.

They would have gotten there just the same, in a little more time.

He just stole the top spot more overtly pitching hatred and division.

...because I think ANY Republican who had been elected on 2016 would have messed up the court the same way. I mean, the most serious challenge to Trump in 2016 was probably Ted Cruz. Does anyone think his court would have been any better? Heritage Foundation and Federalist Society were likely going to be the primary source for judge material for any Republican who would have gotten elected.

He corrupted every last department that falls under the Executive branch. Especially, Health and Human Services (CDC, FDA, etc.) Homeland Security (customs and immigration, Secret Service...), and worst of all, the Justice Department (FBI, Civil Rights. ATF, DEA...) He even managed to fuck up the US Postal Service.

And, yes. Members of his party have been laying the groundwork for this for decades. They're all just as culpable as Trump is. In fact, they're even more disgusting, because they all hate Trump, but they were A-okay with him being the wrecking ball. Fuck them all to hell.

That was McConnell's abuse of power.
I can well understand Biden's reluctance to pack the Court, which would be seen by many as HIS abuse of power. His only other option is to protect our rights through legislation, which be did in the case of marriage equality. But without stronger Democratic numbers in Congress, his abilities are limited.

that didn't turn to solid waste. I'm convinced that means he was only minimally involved with the project. The whole idea of governance and governing (function of government) never really interested him a great deal. Power (as applied to the individual) and blowing s__ up were more his thing.

To increase the size of SCOTUS or add term limits to Justices. But, more than 99% of federal cases are resolved in the lower courts federal district courts and the federal circuit courts of appeal. Federal Judges are confirmed by the Senate and the Senate through nominations of President Biden has confirmed 84 culturally diverse judges.

Something needs and must be done. I am not willing to sit idly by and allow more injustices to occur similar to the overturning of Roe V Wade. Please write or call your Representative or Senator and let your voice be heard.
