It came upon our planet and smacked our atmosphere square in the nose. Fortunately our atmosphere held strong. The object that did that was discovered in the 1970's. It was a flat disc estimated to be more than 10 miles across. And it fired upon our planet at a distance of over 50,000 light years away... (58,349 posts)6. So, you've taken the magnetar explosion that hit the earth in 2004 and are rewriting it
as a giant weapon, the 10 mile flat disc, fired at the earth from 50,000 light years away?

Interesting article on the magnetar - I don't remember ever reading anything about it, so I'm glad I know about it now. That's a hell of a blast! Holy crow.
