The secret document investigation: Could a plea deal be in the works?

This crime and investigation has been very strange from the beginning. It is clear to me the National Archives and the DOJ from the beginning just wanted the Orange Whale to return the documents. The so called genius decided to play games, commit crimes, by not returning the documents. If he had returned them this would have all went away.

Many of us don't understand why Trump hasn't been charged in this case yet. It doesn't make a lot of sense. I have no doubt Trump will never want to go on trial for anything. It will make him look like a loser. Nothing scares Trump more. For some reason the DOJ may not want to bring this case to trial if possible. We know the DOJ is still looking for missing documents. Trump hired some organization to look for documents. They found some in a storage unit and returned them.

Could there be some type of negotiation going on between Trumps lawyers and the DOJ? Return all the documents, pay a fine, perhaps agree to never run for office again and the DOJ will not bring it to trial. The reason perhaps, nothing has happened in this case is because Trump doesn't know where all the documents are. Maybe he has agreed to return them but can't find them. Who the hell knows.

All of this is just a guess, however Trump does have a long history of settling things when he knows he can't win. It is possible the DOJ may want this to all go away so they can concentrate on the largest investigation in our history, The Coup of Fools investigation.

That’s my opinion. I’m not sure if he sold them or just used them for leverage or just to enhance his image, but somebody who is an authorized has these things, I’m pretty sure

Or Russian and Chinese agents at MAL made copies.

Kushner had the same access and he is not stupid.

Trump is not stupid either.

Don't fall for his idiot act.

Trump is probably the greatest con artist of all times.

And get away with all the crimes he has committed since childhood.

Much of the stupid stuff is his way of getting the attention he craves.

He doesn't believe most of the stupid stuff he says.

I would say that a career criminal who pretends to be rich but isn't,
and has gotten away with all of his crimes is not stupid.

And who was able to become the most powerful man in the world
and go on a huge lucrative crime spree while in office is not stupid.

And someone who has done more damage to the US than anyone in recent
memory is far from stupid.

And someone who consistently outmaneuvers prosecutors and law enforcement is
not stupid.

Yes let's see how this ends. It will tell us how smart he is.
He may just make a nice easy settlement with the DOJ.

Everyone will be happy.

Trump is not special in any way. His lawyers have been his brain his entire life. Everything was handed to him from his father. His father had to constantly bail him out. He learned how to do some smart things from corrupt lawyers. He never worked a day in his life. He had to become a corrupt business man because every legit business he tried went bust. The so called genius failed as a casino owner. You have to be a special kind of stupid to bankrupt a casino.

Trump is a child like narcissist who had lots of money and lawyers who protected him his entire life. Trump became president through a series of freakish events. Not because he was smart. He was surprised he won.

He was not some stupid weak man being used.

Mary Trump, his niece, agrees.

Both of them have extensive first hand knowledge of Donald Trump.

I assure, Trump is far from stupid.

I am a retired psychologist with a specialty in intellectual assessment
and with four decades of experience.

Trump is not stupid. He is a lot of things, but stupidity is not one of them.

He could have pulled off most of his WH crimes and no-one would have known.
If he had been smarter about it.

And if he had not pissed off McConnell and other GOP leaders, they would have
covered for him like is the case for POTUS.

American politicians have been hiding POTUS and VPOTUS crimes for a long time.

When he left office he told people to seal up the boxes and ship them to his resort. I don't think he had any idea what was in all those boxes. They were all mixed up with other shit he had hoarded for four years.

People give Trump way too much credit for being smart.

There certainly did not seem to be any semblance of organization when you mix up classified docs with more routine presidential papers and then throw in the odd newspaper clipping and publicity photos and shuffle. I think it was a "grab everything and let's go" because he honestly thought he'd somehow just be allowed to stay as President. And none of his aides wanted to take responsibility and still don't as he has yet to come up with a Custodian of Record for all this despite the court telling him he needs one.

"Return all the documents, pay a fine, ...and the DOJ will not bring it to trial."

No "...perhaps agree to never run for office again."

They don't want to prosecute him; it would "tear the country apart."
