this came up in my fb memories this am. since the du dfa group was mentioned in my posting, i thought id bring it here. sorry for the fb link. i rly need to get a photo account.

oh man, this is a great memory.
dr dean was in town for a fundraiser, as were almost all the active dems in the state. he wanted to press the flesh w some locals b4 the thing. the a list was busy, the b list was busy, the c list was busy. so Sean Tenner called me.
i actually got to meet the good doctor several more times. im putting a pair of buttons i made back then in his pocket, and hes signing 1. 1 of them is him, w the words- brought to you by. theres pics of nickels and dimes and mice. the other is of bush. same words, only his is oil co logos, defense co logos. u get the idea.
the next time i saw him i asked him to sign the same button again. saw him at a couple parties at joe moores house.
he still speaks for me.

(54,405 posts)I was told he was the governor of Vermont, and he was thinking of running for president. I thought, "Governor of Vermont? I have never even heard of the guy." We were introduced, and by the end of the evening, I was thinking, "hell it would be wonderful if this guy WERE President!" Over the years, we became friends, cemented by our mutual admiration of Leo Kottke (something Al Franken shares, by the way). Howard has even visited my adopted home town of Düsseldorf, here with the mayor:
