You know why MAGATs accept and embrace the lies

without question?

They've been brainwashed by rightwing Christianity.

Taking as literal truth the most implausible stories - Old and New Testament alike (virgin birth anyone?) softened their brains to accept the bs the GOP sends their way. It's almost like they weaponized it!

The biggest lie of all is that you will have eternal life. Everybody’s going to die and it will be over. Awareness of our own mortality is what makes us human. But if you believe you’re gonna go on forever you’ll believe anything

"Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them." ~ Barry Goldwater

"right-wing Christianity," that I think we all know when we see it?

If I'm not being clear.

There are certainly Catholics and other Christians who do not fall prey.

This, from Jimmy Carter, for example:

Jimmy Carter Leaves Southern Baptists

Oct. 20, 2000 -- Former President Carter, a longtime Sunday school teacher, is walking away from the Southern Baptists because of the church’s stance on equality for women.

In an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution published today, Carter says Southern Baptist leaders reading the Bible out of context led to the adoption of increasingly “rigid” views.

“I’m familiar with the verses they have quoted about wives being subjugated to their husbands,” he told the paper. “In my opinion, this is a distortion of the meaning of Scripture. … I personally feel the Bible says all people are equal in the eyes of God. I personally feel that women should play an absolutely equal role in service of Christ in the church.”

a conservative, fundamentalist Christianity that applies a much more literal interpretation of the Bible to their doctrine and theology, and "baptizes" politics into that perspective, and the kind of Christian expression found among Black Americans, which uses a much less literal, much more historical context to develop doctrine and doesn't wrap political positions in religious rhetoric.

Yes, a majority of Black voters are Democrats and a majority of them are Christians who belong to evangelical denominations and that, along with the fact that many Democrats belong to Evangelical churches, precludes this being a "broad brush" statement. However, there has been a strong merging of right wing political positions with right wing Christian doctrine and theology among the literalist, fundamentalist and Pentecostal/Charismatic branches of American Evangelicalism and it is most definitely a factor in the belief and acceptance of conspiracy theories. This is a branch of American Christianity that thrives on "us vs. them" persecution complex and believes that everyone else is jealous of them because they think have it right. They've baptized politics, distorting truth and subverting churches at the same time.

Then came "victory Christianity" "What ye bind in the name of Jesus is bound is heaven" became "Name it to claim it".

Jesus gave me a pink Cadillac.
Jesus helped me make $Millions with (insert ponzi scheme here).
Jesus got me this 5000 sq ft house.
Jesus will give me the most beautiful children.

Then it morphs into poor or sick people just lack faith - or sin too much and get cursed. And rich people are naturally blessed by God for their righteousness.

Praise Jesus and pass the collection plate.
Sickening.
