I can't help but think. if McCarthy is not the repub House speaker than who is?

The more time passes, the more I think he may not get the votes. Until recently I did not think that would be the case. The Santos situation obviously not helping. The Gaetz cray-cray wing of the republican party does not want him because he is not trumpy enough apparently. What replacement for McCarthy WOULD be acceptable for them? If the Gaetz wing wants to nominate one of the fellow crazies they would never get the votes from sane republicans (to the extent there are any of those left). If they try to go with someone other than McCarthy then the same reasoning that rejects McCarthy would still be in place.

Where are they going with this? Do they ask themselves that very question?

He's right wing crazy, respectable, already in leadership, and less edgy in public.

I think the GOP will greatly regret the choice of McCarthy as Speaker of the House.

And yet he still wants guns and ammunition in the hands of the public.

He's a slow learner.

five votes from the "cray-cray wing" to call for a motion to vacate the speaker’s chair, which would make reign potentially very unstable and/or short.

They only represent their donors. The gerrymandering keeps them in their seats, but it also paralyzes them in gridlock. Boehner and Rand couldn't corral the hyenas either.

Glad I'm off Keto so I can enjoy the popcorn. Circular firing squad clown car coming right up.

. . . . . is it even possible a Dem Speaker can happen?

Not saying that will happen, just asking if it is possible, even if very unlikely.
