I lived in a house that was formerly owned by one of the three partners who owned the Valley Forge music Fair outside of Philadelphia, and Barbara’s husband, to whom she was married for a reasonably short time, but had a child by, was one of the partners, and she had multiple Passover Seders in what was to become my home.

No, I don’t believe that everything is about me, but I was always amazed by that fact.

Sometimes our lives intersect slightly with those who are influential, for any reason, and it reminds us that we are really all connected.

Barbara Walters was a classic fact seeker.

Off topic. I got a Mike Schmidt 1980 World Series Championship Ring for Christmas. It might be the original. We’re still checking

We are living in the former home of the grandparents of the best Doctor in town. Love ya Philly.

My error. Ms Walters would say “I had a seven year-old at that time when I moved to…” and I got distracted. I recall the profile on her daughter some years ago.

She was such a trailblazer in her industry. They showed her final day on the view, and all these women from all the other news networks made an appearance to thank her. It was very emotional.

I know it became fashionable to make fun of her because her later career was stuff like The View and celebrity interviews, but she also spent a good part of her career as a pretty serious newswoman and chased down "gets" with amazing tenacity. Apparently she and Diane Sawyer, even in Ms Walters' later years, constantly competed with each other to get the high profile exclusives.

Not to mention she had her own production company and was the first woman in journalism to really do that--and she made a ton of money from it.

I also hate that it happens so close to NYE because Cheri Oteri always did a great Barbara Walters bit on CNN's NYE show, especially a couple years ago.

34. Barbara Walters, groundbreaking Jewish TV host, dies at 93
Sat Dec 31, 2022, 05:59 AM
Dec 2022

Barbara Walters, the iconic newswoman and celebrity interviewer who made history for women and Jewish anchors on mainstream American news television, died at 93 on Friday.

ABC News, where Walters regularly appeared on shows such as “20/20” and “The View,” shared the news without giving a cause of death.

Before becoming one of the most enduring and talked about news hosts in the world from the 1970s through the 2000s, Walters was raised by parents descended from Jewish immigrants who fled antisemitism in Eastern Europe. Her father Lou founded a chain of nightclubs and moved the family from Boston to Miami to New York, gaining and losing fortunes along the way.

---

Walters also scored the first joint interview with Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, before they finished negotiating a historic peace agreement in 1979. In 1977, she had also interviewed Sadat on his flight to meet with Begin in Israel.
