TDFG threatening 3rd Party run if GOP does not back him in 2024....

The mere thought that the GOP could dismiss TDFG all together is appetizing. It does not bode well in 2024 if that becomes the case. But hopefully by then, he will be on trial for Sedition and other crimes against the very Government he wants to RUN as well as RUIN. "Terminate the Constitution"? Try, Donnie boy!

Source: Huff Post

Former President Donald Trump has appeared to float the idea of running a third-party campaign if increasingly disgruntled Republican leaders don’t get behind his 2024 run for the presidency.

Trump signaled the possibility by posting an article on Truth Social Wednesday ― “The Coming Split,” by Dan Gelernter, in the right-wing journal American Greatness ― promoting just such an option.

Gelernter believes such a move would torpedo Trump’s chances of winning the White House. But it would also wipe out Republican hopes, which Gelernter argued would be a deserving punishment for rejecting the popular former president.

“Do I think Trump can win as a third-party candidate? No,” he wrote. “Would I vote for him as a third-party candidate? Yes. Because I’m not interested in propping up this corrupt [GOP] gravy-train any longer.”

When Trump makes a threat, he comes out and says it.

This “re-Truth” is more like an anxious, attention-seeking trial balloon, trying to get some press for his so-far lacklustre 2024 campaign.

And it worked.

It may work because they know a third party candidate would split Republican votes. Republican leaders need to get behind the DOJ investigations if they want to get rid of Trump. If it looks like he would go to jail, he’ll bail to another country.

A third party run would be devastating because of the MAGAs, but if they turn their backs on him and return to the fold, Trump would be left toothless.

His present goal should be to present himself to the MAGAs as the severely martyred underdog.

A full pardon.
Total immunity.

He will NOT get it unless he WINS in 2024 .....UNLESS
he trades his base for it.

He will negotiate a pardon/immunity promise (in writing) from the leading GOP candidate in return for endorsing him/her and encouraging his base to vote for that person. If the GOP wins he gets it. If they don't he's no worse off than he is right now.

Just sayin...

…running a third-party presidential campaign would be so far off the top of the list you’d never see it.

The RNC knows the extent of Trump’s criminal history. Right now he’s a Republican so the 11th Commandment applies. If he runs against them in 2024 they’d be in front of Merrick Garland’s desk going “you have got to put this idiot in jail today; tell us what you need to do that and you’ll have it before lunch.”

Let's face it, by the end of 2023, Trump will be so deep in legal and financial troubles he's not going to be a viable candidate for anything. He's trying to clear the field so he can claim political immunity (if that's a thing) and any indictments can be brushed off as political theater. Or so he thinks, if he thinks.

Trump is finished as a political candidate. He'll still cause plenty of chaos but the smarter Republicans can just hold out for a few months till Trump is indicted.

... it would mean the salvation of the Republican Party. I'm talking about my Grandpa's Republican Party - the one that elected Dwight Eisenhower, the one that finally shut down Joe McCarthy's HUAC hearings.

All the crazy MAGAts, racists, "moral majoritarians" and most of the libertarians would quit the GOP and jump to Chump's new party, whatever he decides to call it. The GOP would finally be free of them, and only sensible, reasonable conservatives (like Liz Cheney) would be left. However these days most of them are already over the rainbow highway, just like my Grandpa is. I'm not sure how many reasonable, sensible Republicans are left. Certainly not enough to elect a new President.

But on the other hand, Chump's new party of crazies will also be too small to elect anybody. Maybe they should be called the "Three Bricks Shy of a Load" Party. Or maybe just "Chump's Losers" Party.

Happy New Year my friends!

Trump has filed with the FEC saying he's running as a Republican. If I understand correctly, to avoid running afoul of sore loser laws he would have to change that to a third party before the first GOP primary.

Now, we all know Trump doesn't give a crap about the law, but switching to a third party after GOP primaries have begun could keep him off the ballot in 47 states, which seems like an incredibly dumb thing to do. Yes, Trump does dumb things all the tume, but nonetheless, his FEC filing may indicate his true intentions.

Orange Foolius saw what Sinema did - avoiding a primary shit show (in narcissist eyes, not ours) and said "hold my diet coke!"

Never underestimate the least effort in determining outcome in the modern world - I say. So tRump would have no problem getting signatures. He might also ignore solid blue states - as that is completely in character. Run as an independent and toss crap at both parties for the next two years. This is really what he is good at and it seems to be what he enjoys most. Not sure he was ever a team player. He uses the GOP to get what he wants, so the minute he sees them as getting in his way, he will let them go. This lunkhead thinks he is bigger than GOP. ...And he could be right in a general - some states.

Independents don't historically do that well in US Prez elections. Could his ego think he could beat that? What if this independent think is pure defense on Ass Face's part? Could we be so lucky that he be indicted, detained and driven down? Does the GOP really have a "won't go lower" point where they ALL ghost him? We are the last to judge as we probably believed it should have happened when he mocked the reporter in 16 campaign. Could GOP make a deal with Trumplethinskin? If he stays in primary and loses, the winning GOP candidate will pardon him "for the good of the country". The kink in that plan is GOP must win, and I bet the Treason Weasel won't bet his life on that.

I think given the trend, there is good chance he goes independent. Then he goes into exile after he loses. He can probably run out the clock on any court judgements until 24 election. I also predict Trump has a planned exit. Probably 5 of them. He is a wannabe mobster and can probably disappear any time he wants. SS be like.. fine by us.
