with the food supply. Anecdotal: just paid $2.65 for a half dozen eggs at walmart, Publix has them for $3.85/half dozen. and the breadbasket of the states is either under water or under snow.

(115,807 posts)Also, snowfall is necessary to provide moisture in the soil when it melts and the crops do start to grow. This is normal weather. We need snow, and cold weather kills harmful insects.

Sometimes a very hard or heavy rain will mess it up before it sprouts, but snow won't
Tobacco farmers seed their plant beds in late January or early February, cover them in cheesecloth and steam them. The cloth holds in the heat & moisture and the sun's heat does the rest.
It's pretty neat to watch the steaming

(18,734 posts)Most of the breadbasket is supposed to be covered with snow. Also eggs come from chickens, they are not grown in fields.
