Is a battered McCarthy still our best outcome?

At the end of the day, it still seems best that a weakened Kevin is the best outcome.

Going to a second option seems like it would only be someone that is even further to the right or worse.

My only concern is how much he will have bargained away in the process of winning.

There seems to be some idea that it would be good if we could steal the position but that seems problematic to me. I don't want them to have anyone to blame for their disfunction.

I wouldn't mind seeing an outsider like Cheney take it but that seems like a pipe dream.

...is that he stands for nothing but Kevin and everything is on the table. Compared to more right wing alternatives, thats not terrible.

4. My pipe dream is Matt Cartwright.

10 year D from a +11 Trump district in central PA. He's figured out how to navigate the middle and that's a heck of a lot better than having the right wackos driving the clown car.

I don't see any R's willing to think about Jefferies and Cheney's positions on everything other than 1/6 and Trump are still so hard core R that I don't think she gets any D support.

I know...never gonna happen but since we're throwing pipes around in this dream...that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

5. Liz is too right-winged for my taste.

And, outside of the Jan. 6th hearings, I wouldn't trust her to tell me that water was wet. She went along in lock step with that party of insane maga on abortion, and other hideous things the GQP US Taliban party is for.

No thanks to Liz. I don't trust her outside of Jan. 6th. She is her father's daughter.

... any moderate would be good for the country. Liz Cheney is correct on Trump, and she has integrity - however, she still holds ultra-conservative views. Maybe she would be willing to compromise those views... not sure...
