Crabs in a Bucket - The Republican Majority in the House

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crab_mentality

The metaphor is derived from anecdotal claims about the behavior of crabs when they are trapped in a bucket. While any one crab could easily escape, the claim is its efforts will be undermined by others, ensuring the group's collective demise.

The analogous theory in human behavior is that members of a group will attempt to reduce the self-confidence of any member who achieves success beyond the others, out of envy, jealousy, resentment, spite, conspiracy, or competitive feelings, to halt their progress.

I view the Republican party as the party of "me", whereas the Democratic party is the party of "we", and the difference is night and day.
Thanks for the post.

and has picked one out and had a whole string of them come out, all hanging on to each other as I drop them carefully into the pot of boiling salt water seasoned with hot pepper, yeah, that metaphor holds beautifully.

I always thought they hung onto each other like that because they wanted to make sure nobody got out ahead of anybody else, making sure they were all doomed.

Optimistic point: they never managed to take the bucket with them.

Perhaps the most perfect food ever behind the Chesapeake Bay Oyster, I'll think of repugs and will feel the urge to upchuck

Thanks.
