CONCORD, N.H. (AP) Two years ago, Republicans swept Democrats into a small minority in New Hampshires state Senate and House, but the results of Tuesdays election have flipped that around.
House Democratic Leader Terie Norelli said Wednesday preliminary counts show Democrats won 217 House seats to 177 by Republicans with six races still to be decided. She said even if Republicans win all six, Democrats will be in the majority again. That is at least a 115-seat gain since Democrats only control 102 seats now out of 400.
Norelli, of Portsmouth, faces a challenge for speaker from Nashua Democrat David Campbell.
The Secretary of States office is working on a final tally.

(13,899 posts)the Republican legislature up here is crazy and has done absolutely nothing. Great news!
I think the NH legg blew it when it started the crap about rolling back abortion rights. One thing Graniteheads do not like is invasion of privacy. What happens in the Notch, stays in the Notch.

(15,263 posts)...during off-year elections. The crazy Tea Party crew that got swept into power in 2010 never truly represented NH, they merely represented the crazy but dedicated right wingers who took advantage of Democratic inattention and apathy.

(28,944 posts)the DNC didn't put any effort into NH in 2010. No GOTV, boots on the ground or much in the way of an air war, ads, mailings, etc. It didn't rally the troops, gave up hard won ground and I don't understand why.
