(12,514 posts)there is zero evidence of these docs being planted by anyone, so until there's solid evidence of such, then I'll keep an open mind.

We must face that TS and classified docs number in the multi-millions. If we could rewind history, would have never said how sacred they are. Would have said that they are everywhere in govt. Everywhere. What's important is what you do when some are found that shouldn't have been left??

(2,267 posts)..classified documents, I don't understand how Trump or Biden left office with a single document, let alone, numerous documents.
I suppose a President and maybe Vice President are given greater latitude and could be allowed to remove a document from the assigned location but one would think they would still have to sign out a document and be expected to return it at some point. And if someone is in charge of keeping up with the signed out stuff, they would be advising the individual of his overdue library book.
In Biden's case, we're talking about files he allegedly took home 6 years ago. I'm close to Joe's age and can't remember all the details of what I did yesterday. But I would bet, if he was shown the documents, he could explain why he had them in the first place.
But, and I'm assuming here, unlike Trump, he wouldn't have wanted or needed to take documents home after leaving office. As someone else noted, there's not enough information available at the moment to draw any conclusions beyond the files getting inadvertently packed in with other stuff.

(34,126 posts)It isn't like they keep a list of every single document classified by every single entity which is permitted to classify docuents, with numbered copies to track.
But Biden almost certainly didn't take documents when he left office. They were likely already in these locations because he needed them in locations other than the White House because being vice president isn't a 9-5 job. Nor it is a discrete task, sequential job task kind of job. He was almost certainly multi-tasking and set aside documents needed for one task when working on another and didn't get them all back where they belonged, and forgot about them.
That's in sharp contrast with Trump who took the documents when he left office because be wanted souveniers, believed they belonged to him, etc., and then when discovered tried to hide them and to avoid returning them.

(3 posts)Evidence suggests the document was planted. First, the document was written on a typewriter. Second, the document was found in a file marked "presidential orders." Third, a Secret Service agent claims to have witnessed the document being planted. Fourth, the document was found before the 2016 election. In light of recent developments, I would like to suggest to the readers to watch the following video in which a bobcat attacks a group of coyotes.

I doubt that happened. If it did they're much smarter than I give them credit for.
Personally I think his staff was just f****** sloppy. And now they're finding all the s*** that they couldn't keep track of or didn't read or didn't care that they were putting in a box.
Does anybody know who his VP staff was that boxed up all his stuff after 2016?

(3,286 posts)If the documents had been planted, would it not make sense for Biden to assert as much and provide whatever evidence he has? He hasn't done so, though, so either he doesn't believe they were planted or he has no evidence that they were. And he likely has no evidence that they were planted because they weren't.
The far more likely explanation is that the documents were overlooked and were there the entire time until discovered. It was, to put it bluntly, a mistake. Anyone can make a mistake, but how a person responds to a mistake demonstrates their character (or lack thereof). Biden will handle the mistake with dignity and grace, whereas Trump will be himself and I really needn't expand on what that means. Trump's possession of the documents wasn't a mistake in the first place, anyway.
The two situations are apples and oranges.

(94,950 posts)Rogue Secret Service agents were supportive of Donald Trump winning in 2016 and therefore stole documents from Biden's VP office in 2016 in case Biden chose to run against Trump, but then didn't hide them during the campaign which might cause a scandal, but instead hid them during Biden's Administration in the hope that, if Trump got caught in a scandal, someone would search his records and find them?

We DON'T know yet that people in the Obama-Biden amin were sloppy and careless enough to do this. It'd be pretty damned bad. Classified document markings are not exactly top secret.

(20,025 posts)If they had been planted and "discovered" a few days before the midterms, announcing the "discovery" BEFORE the midterms in hopes of influencing the election would have surely been part of the plan. Not sure why anybody would wait almost two months to tell the press/public.
Upon a thorough search a person could probably still find some classified documents in an office connected to the staff of GWB, Reagan, or even Nixon. The Reagan admin was particularly known for being corrupt.
I can no longer watch the media hype creating this "crisis."
Ms. Toad
(34,126 posts)Hmmmmm . . . nope. That should be a big clue that he knows it is possible that papers were misplaced and inadvertently not returned when he left office.
