I seem a little shocked because I never thought it would be put into place so completely. I have lupus and another auto immune neuro-muscular disease that have me on permanent disability. Does this mean that her Blue Cross will have to let me on her policy? When I get on her policy in 2 years I will no longer need to try to use Medicaid.

2) An end to insurance company discrimination against Americans with pre-existing conditions. While Obamacare has already barred insurance companies from denying insurance to children with pre-existing conditions, this highly popular consumer protection will be extended to all Americans by January 2014. This means that Americans suffering from a host of genetic and chronic ailments that are completely beyond their control will no longer be relegated to expensive and inefficient high-risk pools, or be forced to forego critically needed health coverage entirely.

(229 posts)i plan on retiring in 2014 so i have been following this battle for awhile. it will be very beneficial and now everyone will have an opportunity to learn more about the ACA. i believe as people learn more about ACA they will begin to embrace it just as SS is now embraced as a good program.
