(1,668 posts)At least some of these kids will leave Floriduh. Their grasp of their fellow humans will be limited, and even if they're smart they may not be able to accept a fact based world view because it will be so at odds with what they were "taught."

(21,137 posts)As a substitute the teachers always leaves scholastic news for us subs. I wonder is Desatan will ban scholastic news because some of the subjects are about MLK, Rosa Parks and even had a Chinese New Year issue.
Dumbing down students will not lead to a brighter future for Florida.

(1,062 posts)Florida, and when real estate prices will fall. I expect it will start with the teachers leaving, and the schools having long term staffing shortages. Or worse, right wing propagandists will be in the classroom. Maybe there are enough people OK with this and the ramifications won't sink in unless/until their kids apply to college and can't meet standards.
Meanwhile families with teenage girls, and young single women will leave (and out-of staters won't apply to college in Florida).
Transgender families will not be enough to change the numbers much, but they will be out of there for sure.
Maybe people in danger of voting while Black will also go.
Meanwhille, the number of representatives in Congress will stay, along with the gerrymanding, for 10 years.

(13,497 posts)they will leave FL if they can. The only other thing to do is teach your child on your own about MLK and Rosa Parks and how the fight for equality in the US goes on to this day.

(5,523 posts)these 'leaders' are damned determined to put us into the "just one more Southern State" category. When I moved here in '88 I couldn't believe the lack of education amongst my Florida-educated co-workers and thanked my lucky stars that I was educated in Wisconsin. Sad.

(2,841 posts)that Gov. DeathSentence desperately wants Florida to be the white nationalist capital of the US. This is only one step in that path. Grooming and indoctrination of children into believing that white people have never done anything wrong. They can disavow, shroud, suppress and refuse to acknowledge history but, they can never erase it.
Anything worth having is worth fighting for. This shit has to be stopped!

(6,017 posts)Recent (past 10 years?) new titles:
"The Berenstain Bears Say Their Prayers"
"The Berenstain Bears God Loves You!"
"The Berenstain Bears Go To Sunday School"
"The Berenstain Bears And The Golden Rule"
...and so on.
Why would Florida Republicans specifically ban "The Berenstain Bears and the Big Question" which is explicitly about the younger bears learning about (and thus teaching the child being read to / reading the book) the Christian Faith?

(1,813 posts)he's doing this because he can. GOP's Big Government is in its citizens' classrooms, their homes, in their children's lives, in women's vaginas...he won't stop until he has completely groomed compliance.
