(14,049 posts)There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender." - G'Kar (Babylon -5)

(28,504 posts)Our world is indeed divided by race, color, gender, and religion. It does no service to humanity to pretend otherwise; or, to put it another way, this is the "colorblind" mentality that enabled so many white liberals to believe that we were post-racial when Obama was elected.
It is also true that the world is divided between the wise and the foolish, and the foolish promote division by weaponizing race, color, gender, and religion.
When we see diversity, we see individuals and cohorts as they are, and celebrate that diversity. This inclusive, "color-full" mentality is what brings strength and unity to the left, it is the quality that makes us wise.
