is hitting me hard. Not only because it's in my backyard (California's Central Coast, or God's Country as Steinbeck called it) but because of the victims. They were migrant farm workers. This is a group of people constantly taken for granted and taken advantage of. They live in the shadows, and yet without them we would literally starve.
Their lives are incredibly hard. Here in California, we just came out of a period of torrential rains and flooding. These farmworkers and their families bore the brunt of it because they often live in substandard housing.
We in California have strict gun laws and we try to protect each other. But until we have uniform gun laws in this country, we will never prevent these tragedies.

(8,976 posts)The response is ALWAYS buy more guns. And it always works. They dont even have to pay for advertising - just piggyback on the next shooting.

(17,026 posts)The local news in my area has broadcast some excruciating details. It's hitting our community hard, but it is shining some much needed light on the plight of these workers and the need for national gun laws.

(9,112 posts)We need to educate everyone on the value of laws and the harm caused by abuse of laws via loopholes and wealth.
I've come to believe that most of our problems stem from "trickle-down-economics".
We also need to force the news media to be more responsible. Or pay for their abuse.

(3,955 posts)IIRC, that means there had to be at least four people shot. How many instances are not taken into account that involved three or fewer people that we don't hear about?
If I wasn't already living here, I would never come here. This place is becoming a third world country. Thanks to Rethuglicans and their Billionaire Overlords.

(7,281 posts)e year or two ago, a judge in San Diego district dismissed illegal automatic weapons charges on a Jan 6 nut job extremist. Can't remembrer if he was Oath Keeper, or a 3 percenter, or nazi boogaloo. they're all the same to me really.
These sympathetic judges need to be removed.
