Trump defends Mike Pence as 'an innocent man' after discovery of classified records at former vice

president's home

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday defended former Vice President Mike Pence after around a dozen documents marked as classified were discovered at his Indiana home.

"Mike Pence is an innocent man," Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, shortly after the news broke. "He never did anything knowingly dishonest in his life. Leave him alone!!!"

A lawyer for Pence found the records at Pence's Carmel, Indiana, home and turned them over to the FBI last week, CNN first reported on Tuesday. The FBI is reportedly reviewing the documents and how they turned up at Pence's home.

Trump's reaction comes as he's under criminal investigation over possibly mishandling classified materials after he left the White House. The FBI executed a search warrant at Trump's Mar-a-Lago club and residence in Florida in August, finding roughly 100 documents with classified markings.

Too bad you didn't feel that way when the Jan. 6 mob wanted to lynch him.

I smell a rat. None of this makes any sense to me. You can practically see the wheels turning in Pence's head as he calculates whether the interviewer knows or can find out if he himself took docs. So, he denies that. And now this.

Trump defending Pence is laughable. But, the sheer volume now of "misplaced docs" is Trump's best bet to skate, hiding in plain sight. What I find distressful is hearing Ted Cruz advocate that all of Biden's properties, plus Hunter's, plus the university, be searched. What manner of BS is this? It's hard to believe that Ted Cruz actually has a constituency that thinks he does a good job. He oozes hate and cowardice.

Pence is lucky to be alive. If he didn't remember EVER looking at docs at home, then how did they get there? I still say that those empty folders mean something, and that the childish Trump is gaming the system with the missing docs. Something is amiss.

I guarantee you, if one of us were the VP, we'd remember that day years ago when we reviewed something at home, knowing that we shouldn't have. And, Trump's timing is highly suspicious.

I think that Garland should appoint that SC for Pence. Only fair. Also, I think there will be yet another official that will reveal hidden docs. Let's see, who else does Trump want to get even with? Has to be a cabinet level or higher kind of guy.
