Just like Twitter. It depends what you use it for.

I'm in a couple of groups for Dave Matthews Band, several amusement park groups, and some buy and sell groups for my local area.

Occasionally I'll have something pop up for an event I'm interested in. A few days ago I had a listing about Fran Lebowitz appearing nearby, and I ended up buying tickets for it.

I avoid anything political, so perhaps that helps me avoid any angst.

I hate that things like Elon taking over Twitter, or FB letting Teflon Man back on, impact my enjoyment and desire to frequent these platforms that I get some level of enjoyment from.

Like you, I was apolitical and most of my experience was pretty civil.

One thing I didn't like was finding the political leanings of many people I was close to (but not so close that I knew their politics). Many were coworkers, neighbors, fellow church members, personal doctors, etc. Try as I might not to let that info affect otherwise good relationships, I struggled with a few. In some of these cases, there is bliss in ignorance!

So, I left

I use FB to keep up with various friends and relatives. It is incredibly useful that way. I simply do not get into anything political there.

I will add this. That when my son committed suicide in 2017, FB was how the news of his death got out. And FB made it possible for over 200 people to show up at a memorial service for him. Without FB, it would have been many months before all of his friends and acquaintances learned of his passing.

I thought maybe it would be a good business tool so I signed up. Didn’t take any time at all for my clients to join in n some jerk rant about my Spanish friends connecting in Spanish. That was the end of it for me n that was about 20 years ago. The hate was too much for me. No thanks

I found I don't need to login to see their postings.

And I do not use my real name and email for my facebook account either.
